So I was looking at the old character chart I posted here , and the thought occurred to me: What if I redrew this, 27 years later, with the current versions of all these characters? Because some of them are radically different now, to be sure. Also, I hadn't drawn a lot of these characters in a *long* time, and I thought the challenge of redesigning them could be a lot of fun.

One thing I made sure to do when conceptualizing those redesigns was to actually look up references for the characters' species, which I couldn't be bothered to do back in 1993. To be fair, there was no Google back then, and looking up references was much harder. Where possible, I looked for the particular species that best matched the way I drew the characters so long ago. For example, instead of being just a generic bat, Gargoyle is now a gray-headed flying fox, a large fruit bat that is native to Australia. This wouldn't work for my alien characters, of course, but I still made some changes to them. Dethagan used to belong to a race which had mostly flesh bodies, but their head, hands, and feet were T-1000-like liquid metal. The older I got, the less sense this made to me. So now, when you look at Dethagan, you get a preview of my new redesigned Kraharr race. I'd been thinking about creating a race of shape-shifting goo people for a while, and that's what the Kraharrs are now.

Some of my other favorites on this roster are T-Storm (who looks way better now that I've finally learned how to draw a panther), punky Wemi (because let's face it, she was really just ginger Bia before), and Dokasa and Sargos looking at each other all lovey-dovey (they are canonically married).
