Beautful design. I love your sence of curves in this. It's feels like an angle hug. How do the wings stay closed? Again...the hinges are kinda shotty but you will get better at them the more that you do. A nice riviting hammer makes it really easy to flush rivit the ends of your wires.

OH~ and the wings- the lower wing has a little clip on its underside that clicks into place on the base, and the upper wing has a clip that clicks into place on the lower wing one clicks onto the other, and that onto the base

hahahah yeah, this was like my second locket? second hinge, and first time using a rivet to do it last locket i made, was a teardrop shape- i did the hinge with chenier and wire-you know, solder chenier on the ends and file off flat-verrry nice and neat i liked that muchly and I want to get some practice in on them
thank you for the good critique coupled with the compliments- helpful

Does this involved, melting the metal and making moulds? It looks fab!

LRJProductions In reply to Sampdoria [2005-09-21 11:13:53 +0000 UTC]

no, no melting or making moulds-this is all shaped from a flat sheet of silver.
Melting and pouring into a mould is called Casting, and none of my work is casting

Nice work Lucy! I really like the fact that it looks good opened or closed. The wings are a really nice shape and the whole thing is just very different.

They are all so purrty very nice. I considering commisioning one do you take customer designs.

LRJProductions In reply to Deus2x [2005-08-27 03:38:07 +0000 UTC]

well, I do take customer designs, but because i know what i can do well, and what i cant do at all, and sometimes how something could be done better, i would most likely have to technically alter your design :S Of course, not much but just so that it could be functionally made if you understand me... ... bleh XD just show me what you want and I'll tell you if i can make it as is or if i'd have to make it in a different manner to the way it is. that work? lol

I love it!

I need to learn how to do stuff like that, I have enough little leftover bits of nearly useless silver that I could melt it all down and make one of those
