I didn't realise it at first, but Super Mystery Dungeon is actually full to the brim of cameos by characters from older games, especially from Blue/Red Rescue Team which was the first game of the series and one of my most beloved games of all time.
After you're done with the story you'll meet a Xatu who is the same as a Xatu who appeared in Rescue Team, you'll also get connected with Ninetales, Absol, Whiscash and Team ATC (Alakazam, Tyranitar, Charizard), all of which are from Rescue Team and make references to it.
You'll also meet Dusknoir, Grovyle and a shiny Celebi who all appear in Explorers of Darkness/Time/Sky

It was really good. The main character was a human-turned-torchic. It was a pretty good read!

Only thing i took from pokemon mystery dungeon (i got team red on the gameboy then) was that sky tower was the mist harses level in any game i ever played (i was 13 back then) and it fustrated me so much that i badicly abanded the game in favor of spore on the pc. Like 5 months after that holyday i managed to finnaly got on top and meet requaza...who i had to fight...and it beat me senseless. 5-ish months of abandendment later and i beat his ass senseless and sour and then the end secuance

Sky Tower was hard af and Rayquaza beat the shit out of me and my bro but I can only remember it as the greatest and most fulfilling challenge of my childhood xD

Super Mystery Dungeon ? Well don't get your hopes up if you want it physically, couldn't find any physical copy anywhere so had to get it digitally instead xD
Pretty good game, although I still prefer the 2D games

It's more the fact that I'm straight up broke. Also, hasn't been any tru 2D games since the Advanced generation in regular Pokemon, and Explorers of Sky/Time/Darkness in PMD. I do know that, after Explorers, Gates of Infinity was a let down. Almost no after-game content.
