Was this one shot in the spring or is the grass indeed still green in Norway? Here in NL everything is yellow or brown and dying. A trip into "nature" has become an apocalyptic experience, at least where I live. I did see on TV that Norway is experiencing the hottest weather in recorded history, although up in Trondheim it should still be sort of bearable I suppose.

this was about a week ago. trondheim wasn’t hit as badly as southern norway, but it was pretty hard to live here for a couple of weeks - for people who are not used to high temperatures, and homes that are built to keep the warmth inside.
now it’s mercifully raining here, but in many places it is still sun and fire hazard.

The drought has another unexpected advantage: it is making archaeological features in the landscape visible thanks to differentials in soil humidity which normally aren't there. So all of a sudden the contours of ancient moats and constructions are starting to appear. How cool is that?

i don't know about lying down in a pool og gasoline, but finding yourself in the middle of a wildfire seems to be a real danger.
it looks like global warming is real - no grass has grown because of the drought in the south of norway, so the dairy farmers won't have food for the cows for the coming winter. i wonder how many years of relative wellbeing we have left.
maybe we should start learning to eat cockroach/grasshopper bread (i hope cockroach breeding is less resource intensive that dairy farming)

Throughout my lifetime "experts" have been trying to scare me successively with the Red Army, the Bomb, the ozone layer and acid rain. Global warming is only the next in a long history of scaremongering. I don't know why it is, but it seems like those in charge feel they have to keep the population in a state of fear for something, whatever it is. To make us feel that total destruction is just around the corner. I won't deny the GW facts, but I find the outlooks, as in every single one of the listed cases, rather dramatic. It seems rather pessimistic to me to not assume that science, technology and a few international agreements aren't going to fix this thing, or keep it and its consequences sort of contained. I personally find the reporting on GW quite "emo", if you know what I mean. These doom scenarios. The stuff really bad Hollywood movies are made of. I personally feel a lot more worried about the nuclear arsenals of the US and Russia, in particular the latter, since it is in the hands of a guy whose mental state I have serious doubts about despite his perpetually sedate and "reasonable" appearance. Once the reality sinks in that his imperial dreams will never come true, who knows what can happen. "If I can't have it, neither can you - Boom, baby!". At least climate change, apart from its problematic side effects, opens up possibilities as well (Norwegian vineyards!). The Bomb won't.
The dairy farmers here in NL have exactly the same problem, they've already been digging into their winter supplies. I should try those cockroaches and grasshoppers some time. I think the more trendy supermarkets have been selling them for a couple of years already. I've recently doubled my meat intake, in defiance of everything that's Eco and PC. Meat is one of the few types of food that don't make me fall asleep (I can't eat bread for that reason, and I can use peanuts as a form of light sleep medication). I guess I'm just a carnivore by nature. Perhaps insects can serve as a substitute, although I hope they aren't as insanely expensive as that other meat substitute, nuts are. That would kill the "less resource intensive" argument for me personally (not sure how that "less resource intensive meat substitute" argument relates to the price of nuts, something doesn't seem to add up here..).
