Description
This is a drawing from an amine called Fairy Tail which includes the characters Gray Fullbuster who is saving Juvia Loxar from falling.This was drawn free handed and took me roughly three and a half hours.

Aha it was because in the reference it only showed her face, so I had to draw everything down (As in her clothes) and while I got it right, I couldn't get the shading bits for where it looks realistic and it really pee'd me off D:

i know how you feel, i also have to find more than one picture for reference as most pictures show only half or less of the character.
i drew Natsu once and his upper part hair was not in my reference so i had to find more pics and try to finish the missing parts.

If I like the scene I can expand it bigger on the paper so that it looks much better
And yes! You need a few references because the angle that you are trying to draw may not be in a picture, so you need to fully see how the hair is

I don't really keep a time barrier, I finish when I finish ^.^
But it was very much worth it! As it is with all my drawings! Be it 2 hours or 7 hours ^.^

Three and a half hours is quite long I think D: Unless it's a good picture then its anything up to five hours
And I'm not sure what you mean by 'far off' but I guess you mean that he was a little overexpressed?

wow.. five hours? I can't draw that long. Mostly I took two hours, minus the inking and coloring(and I hate doing that.)Maybe that's why my drawing's not that good.

I couldn't spend 5 hours straight doing this aha!
I done the lineart at night and then the shading the next morning, but I took a break halfway through!
If you do it straight, then you get irritated and a bit careless I've noticed so I take my time ^.^

Free-hand is the only drawing I can do too!
And yeah episode 25, in the reference though she has curly hair so I done that differently and you cant see Juvia's shawl (the thing from the neck below)

All it takes is practice and awareness of where you place the things like eyes, mouth etc
Shouldn't rush it either, lineart looks quick and simple but it can take up to two hours! A further two to three hours for the shading Do not rush at all, I's sure with practice you can do it!

Aha! Patience is something you need! Just be relaxed and focused and you'll be fine! If something doesn't look too right, hold out until you shade it then it may become clearer!
