Sacrifice

[ . . . ] They had been traveling for what seemed like days…but in reality was only a few hours. Now they traveled an hour more, everyone panting raggedly. Nocturne seemed to be having the worst time, since with a hurt wing he had no hope of flying the way, and he was making slow progress hobbling along on his talons, the long black claws occasionally getting caught in roots and tripping him up.

Spark continued to traverse at the back of the group with the strange character, the cougar no longer making a move to speak for the rest of the journey. He seemed distracted by something. Spark had a strange feeling that even though this feline was nasty and aggressive…..that he wasn't particularly a part of those strange creatures. He didn't look like one of them. He kept this thought to himself as they all ran along, Maadna and Eivo leading the way, allowing Nocturne to slow himself down a little for some rest.

Mist ran with the best of them, his teeth gritted behind his lips. He thought darkly, I hope that the others are alright….what if they ran into those creatures? ….what if they're hurt…!? He closed his eyes hard a moment, staring at his shoes as they trampled moss and loam, leaves crunching in his wake.

…..What if someone has been kidnapped by those creatures!? ….what if someone DIED!!!? W-What i-….

Mist let out a high pitched yelp of shock as he felt something roughly grab him by the back of his neck. Actually, he felt his feet leave the ground as he was hauled clean into the air, his feet kicking with protest. He screamed, "Lemme go! Put me down!!"

Upon command, Nocturne dropped Mist before his talons, and before the grey hedgehog could stand up, he was pulled sharply to his feet by Maadna, "You fool! You JUST about killed yourself!! You need to pay more attention!!" Mist frowned, snarling, "Killed myself!? W-What the heck are you talking abou-…."

Mist was cut short as Maadna grabbed his head and turned it towards the expanse before them, and Mist's jaw dropped.

He had nearly run off the edge of a Cliffside. …they had stumbled upon a dead-end.

Mist trembled, stepping back a considerable amount, his eyes widening as he mulled over what almost was. Eivo roared with agitation, "Ooooh great! Perfect!! We ran all this way and now we have to turn back!? That's nice, that's reeeeally nice!" Spark looked over the edge of the cliff and shuddered, "….man. If someone fell down there they'd be a goner for sure…." [ . . . ]

A little while ago, Chi and I were talking on Yahoo messenger when we decided to tell eachother what to draw. Well, she told me to SKETCH my favorite scene from her SSH spinoff (section listed above), but I felt too passionately about the story and went all out. WEEEE!!! I actually drew a background! Aren't you amazed? *shot'd* (But I did cheat a little with tree stamps, which are found here: [link] I'm wayyyy too lazy to draw trees.) I'm personally pretty darn satisfied with it, considering my laziness. But there are some things I don't really care for...

What I dislike:
~SPARK ALWAYS LOOKS WRONG WHEN I DRAW HIM! URGGHHH!!!
~The awkward shading in some parts
~Nocturne's (owl) eyes
~The glitches in the coloring
~Evio's tail (Lol. Shading FAILURE.)

What I do like:
~the cougar (considering he has no final design and I pretty much made him up off of Chi's descriptions)
~Maadna (I've never drawn her before. She has a very fun to draw design.)
~The fact that I spent time to do a background
~Pretty much everybody except Spark. I CANNOT DRAW HIM RIGHT FOR THE LIFE OF MEH! Dx

Anyways, those are my thoughts pretty much in summary. Soo... what do you guys think?
