I recently made my first attempt at surrealist art, at a course where I learned the Mischtechnik, facilitated by two amazing visionary artists, Kuba Ambrose (formerly Kuba Fiedorowicz) and Daniel Mirante. Daniels partner at the time, Basia Wiasek was also co-facilitating, and she is an amazing artist in her own right.

I learned to make and mix egg tempera with white titanium powder in the Alchemical way in which the Old Masters of the Renaissance period did, to produce tempera, which can be used to create a luminous effect around any figure, so it glows and is brighter. It also dries so fast for oil based paint. Learning to glaze was also an interesting process.

It was an unforgettable experience, and I am hoping to learn more the next time Daniel is in Melbourne. Kuba is a resident here so I am fortunate to live in a town with such genius. They are both gorgeous people as well.
