Just yesterday, I was there - this fire blocked the entrance to the cave. It is clear that you need to take off your clothes and run, past the fire golem or someone was there, to the treasured chest.
Following the same logic - in the game there are monsters that are stronger than weapons (breaks very quickly), and there are containers and doors that need to be cracked. In such cases, I simply attack them with a dog that breaks teeth (HP) and not weapons.

Yyyyyep. One big issue I have with older games: weak quality control. Sometimes it felt like no one was telling the designers about glitches, game-breaking bugs, and balance issues.

And here is paradox: older games have less bugs and glitches... just because they need to be sure it works before shipping it.
Today's industry creed -"We'll fix it later". Always "later".
But in this Arcanum case: it's jut cute quirk of its RPG system. Arcanum looks and plays as classic Fallouts.

I WOULD wish for remake or sequel... but today's remakes and sequels suck.
I won't trust such gem as Arcanum in hands of modern game industry.
