A while ago, I started playing the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, a game for the PlayStation 4 that consisted of a "remaster plus" of the first three Crash Bandicoot games. I promised I'd make a picture dedicated to the central villains of the franchise after I finished playing all three of the games. And I've beaten them all, so here we are (I didn't get 100% completion in any of them because I didn't have the patience to find all the gems and I already saw the 100% endings from YouTube).

We'll begin this tribute by talking about Dr. Nitrus Brio, who was Dr. Neo Cortex's right hand man in the original game. He was the penultimate boss in the first game, he encouraged Crash to find the gems in the second game (and allows Crash to activate his laser to destroy Cortex's lair in the secret ending should you find all the gems), assisted Dr. Nefarious Tropy as a mutant frog during his boss fight in Crash Twinsanity, became Cortex's main lackey again in Mind Over Mutant, and fulfilled the same roles in the original first two games in the N. Sane Trilogy.

In the first two games, N. Brio was voiced by Brendan O'Brien, who was also the original voice for Dr. Neo Cortex, Dr. N. Gin, and Pinstripe Potoroo. He was silent during his appearance in Twinsanity and was voiced by Maurice LaMarche in Mind Over Mutant and the N. Sane Trilogy.

I'd like to say that Brio's battle in the original game is one of my favorite Crash Bandicoot bosses. Throwing beakers at you and then turning into a giant green monster is a pretty neat strategy for a boss, plus the boss theme is pretty cool.

Next, we'll discuss Dr. N. Gin, who made his debut in the second game as Cortex's new right hand man. He was the penultimate boss in the second and third games, was reduced to a minor role in The Wrath of Cortex, had two boss fights in Twinsanity (piloting Mecha Bandicoot in the beginning of the game and being baited into blowing up his own crow's nest later), was faced as a boss again in Crash of the Titans, appeared once more in Mind Over Mutant, and resumes the same functions he had in the original games in the N. Sane Trilogy.

As I mentioned earlier. Dr. N. Gin was originally voiced by Brendan O'Brien in the second and third games. Corey Burton voiced him in The Wrath of Cortex, he was voiced by Quinton Flynn in Twinsanity, by Nolan North in the Radical games, and by Corey Burton again in the N. Sane Trilogy.

In contrast to his predecessor Dr. Nitrus Brio, N. Gin seldom fought Crash directly, most games having him pilot some kind of mecha during his boss fights. He was also a lot like your typical "Igor", since he was really short, hideous, and his voice was a Peter Lorre impression.

Now we shall talk about Dr. Nefarious Tropy, who made his debut in the third game Warped, his only other appearances in the main game series being in The Wrath of Cortex, Twinsanity, and the N. Sane Trilogy.

Dr. N. Tropy was the antepenultimate boss in the third game, was a recurring obstacle in The Wrath of Cortex, was featured as a boss in Twinsanity, and was obviously included in the N. Sane Trilogy, since it consisted of remakes of the original three games in the first place.

N. Tropy was voiced by Michael Ensign in Warped, by Corey Burton in The Wrath of Cortex, by Michael Ensign again in Twinsanity, and once more by Corey Burton in the N. Sane Trilogy.

N. Tropy was another fun boss fight with awesome theme music.

Our penultimate discussion will be on Uka Uka, who isn't a mad scientist, but is still very important to the franchise nonetheless. Uka Uka didn't make his debut until Warped, but it was made clear that he was also indirectly responsible for Cortex's plans in the first two games. His story is that he is the evil brother of Aku Aku, the enchanted mask who guides Crash Bandicoot and serves as a power-up preventing him from being killed in one hit.

Ever since Warped, Uka Uka was a major part of the story, but he's only been fought as a boss in Twinsanity and Crash of the Titans. Uka Uka was originally voiced by Clancy Brown up until Twinsanity, where he was voiced by Alex Fernandez. John DiMaggio became his official voice actor by the Titans games and continued voicing him in the N. Sane Trilogy, where he did a decent emulation of Clancy Brown's guttural portrayal.

Last, but not least, we have Dr. Neo Cortex, the main villain of the franchise, who is the only character other than Crash to appear in every game in the series and is the final boss in almost every one (the most notable exceptions being Twinsanity and Crash of the Titans, though the former does have you play as him during one stage of the fight against the Evil Twins).

Dr. Neo Cortex was voiced by Brendan O'Brien in the original game, by Clancy Brown from the second game to The Wrath of Cortex, and by Lex Lang ever since Twinsanity. Strangely enough, Baby Cortex from the 100% ending of Warped had a different voice actor in the N. Sane Trilogy version even though he was still played by Cortex's regular actor in the original version. The original version of Warped had Baby Cortex voiced by Clancy Brown using a voice similar to Mr. Krabs', while Baby Cortex in the N. Sane Trilogy version of Warped was voiced by Corey Burton.

The N. Sane Trilogy did pretty well, so we'll probably see a new Crash Bandicoot game soon enough. One of the people behind Twinsanity has encouraged Vicarious Visions to remake Twinsanity. I wouldn't mind a remake of Twinsanity, but I'd prefer that they release a brand new game first.

Man, I wish I could play the N. Sane Trilogy, but I need to have a PS4 to do so.  Oh, well, at least I still have the first two games on the PS1.

Great drawing, BTW.
