I always love your interpretations of Sandor Clegane. You seem to be like me in that we both make him as he is in the novels! This drawing of him is truly beautiful, too… you have all of the features he's said to have/be: extremely tall, looks to be very muscularly built, not even thirty years old, yet, clean shaven, thin black hair combed over his scars, grey eyes, and you even gave him his larger hooked nose.
Love the attention to detail on his armor and helm, too, and that you gave him his Clegane autumn gold colored cloak. I like to think of it as his Bride's Cloak that he's waiting to drape over Sansa's narrow shoulders!
Regarding your reply to another person's comment: I've also read/heard GRRM saying that Sandor Clegane wasn't supposed to be "ugly," as well, and cheered! LOL
I have never thought him as being "ugly" in the books, myself, either. In fact, in my opinion, the few times Sandor's physical appearances actually were described, it was generally from people who were not all that happy with the man at the time they were made.
One time Sandor was described was from Ned's POV, and Ned was upset/angry at the time. One reason for his anger was because Sandor had no choice but to follow the orders of Robert Baratheon and Cersei Lannister by going after, and killing, the Butcher's Boy. The other reason Ned was angry was that he, himself, had to murder sweet little Lady on the King's order.
Let's not forget to mention that all of this only happened because Arya couldn't behave like a High Lord's daughter was expected to for once in her life. And I won't even say that Arya refused to act like a proper Lady, as we all know that is something that is impossible for Arya Stark to do! However, the little chit could have at least refrained from acting like a total Wildling heathen, as evidenced by her and Mycah running around playing with "swords" like some commoner. Had Arya been behaving properly, then Joffrey and Sansa would have never happened upon them, in the first place, only leading to Joffrey drawing his sword in an attempt to "impress" Sansa by "defending" his betrothed's little sister.
So, seeing as how Ned was both angry with his childhood friend, Robert, for not standing up to his wife, and was grieving for Sansa over the senseless loss of her direwolf, his first impression, and resulting description, of Sandor was influenced by his emotions and was, ultimately, jaded.
One of the other times Sandor was actually described was by Sansa, herself. And this was when Sandor was going out of his way to frighten her! A little eleven-year-old girl isn't likely to favorably compare you to Florian when you cruelly yell at her in her face and demand her to gaze at your scars up close and personal.
It seems to me that many people forget that Sansa was only eleven years old in the first book; heck, she was only thirteen in season one! The poor Little Bird is often judged as if she were an adult and it is sad; especially seeing how the very same people who hate on Sansa turn around and praise Arya with their very next breath!
Anyway, I sincerely apologize for such a long comment; no other two characters inspire such an intense passion in me, it would seem.
