People seem to be bothered by the tones on this one... maybe I'll try redoing the tones at some point. Thanks for the comment!

I really like this... But something feels wrong in the editing. I quite like the blue tinge you gave it, it gives it a great atmosphere, but I really don't know about how washed out she looks (especially around the face and on the feet especially - maybe darken it a bit and add more contrast?
On another note, the watch, ring and leaf are all killing me; they kind of break the mood, you know? I would agree with ~emmaismyart , you could just clone out the leaf, it isn't adding anything.

Edited, all except the watch. It would have been a little too difficult and I was scared of messing it up. I managed the leaf, the ring and the contrast though. Comments?

Haha yeah I know... I got this girl to take hers off about five shots later! It's annoying when you forget stupid (yet still annoying to post-process out) details like that!

It's a great photo, the crop works, the model's pose and expression are spot on and the exposure is ok, but perhaps a little dark. The big killer is your white balance seems quite a way off, and the whole shot looks blue. Your D40 will shoot in RAW, and a program called GIMP is great for working in pictures; it works just like photoshop, looks pretty much the same, and with the right plugin you can edit the .NEF raw files rom your D40. You could also clone out the leaf on the top step which doesn't really add anything.

Ok, in which case, the processing doesn't work for me lol, but that's a very personal thing anyway. I really would shoot in raw though, for the price of a few more SD cards it's worth it. I only have about 5gb of memory with 3 cards, but it's enough to shoot over 1000 images or so, and I've never run out of space, and I work in studio for 4 hours at a time!

It's less the SD cards than the computer hard disk, and also the extra time it takes to process them later. I'm defintely considering it for a point when I have more time though!
Oh and running out of space on an SD is the most horrific thing...!

Tell me about it, I'm looking at going semi pro this year, but even second hand D200 bodies are pricey, and the lens I want for weddings is over £1000! I think it's worth you investing at some time though, you're very talented, and if you're producing work of that standard at 16, you're going to be truly awesome. I'm not sure how it works in France, but in the UK we can hire studio space, if you can do that, do it, it's really worth.
