Description My first semi finished sculpt using Z-brush. Base mesh was created using Maya. Sculpting and rendering was done in Z-brush and comping done in Photoshop. I tried to add SSS at the last minute, it was my first time using it so I'm not too sure how its suppose to look.
So this is a sculpt of the Egyptian god Horus. Hope you enjoy and comments and critique is welcome.

Well the SSS failed hard, it rendered out in squares?!? (so if you zoom in you can see little white blocks)

.... but i have learnt a lot from this sculpt and i'll be starting my next one todayΒ 

which will be better so stay tuned!

Thanks man, the headpiece did take a while haha.

Well SSS stands for Sub-Surface Scattering, it is to do with the way organic skin absorbs light and spreads it between the layers underneath... like when you hold a torch to your hand and it glows.


I realised what i did wrong with it though so my next sculpt should be better!

i know right!! ..but this is a little diff, the designs are based on Stargate but i didn't want it to be just a large mechanical head piece. So i gave him an organic eye to show its a helmet on a real Horus. Β
