Layout for Icera on Horseland.
This piece gave me soo much trouble, but I'm okay with the outcome - considering this was the first time I'd ever painted sand, or done Friesian hair. The original tail was more Arab-style, high up and flowy; but after looking at some Friesian images I realized that their tails usually hang down and are really heavy. I tried to put that into this tail as much as I could.
Also, big thank you to =prints-of-hooves for critiquing this earlier on for me, the original sand was too dark and clumpy and she helped me realize that and find some sand references. So, thank you!

It was fun though, and a great challenge! I'm not so great with sand or Friesian hair, but I know it's something to be worked on. cx
