Description Took somewhat better pictures of the finished skull thing. Quite happy how it turned out considering it was a first time doing airbrush shading and washing thing.

What's causing that shiny finish?

Now that you mention it I notice it is quite shiny. I sprayed it with acrylic matte clear coat same as with that sharky thing from earlier. But now that I look at it it is quite a bit shinier than the sharky. I have no idea why though. It is the same clear coat.

That's weird. Maybe it's just the lighting, though.

Maybe it's cause I gave it a thicker coat. It was very light layer on sharky and there's 2 layers on the skull. Base color-clear coat-wash-clear coat.
Β Here's them together

Β The eye of the sharky is glossy clear coat.

That could be it. Are you going to try and get a matte finish on the skull now or just leave it the way that it is?

I don't know. How would one go about it? I have no idea.

I actually have no idea, but I'd guess it would involve stripping part of the current top coat off. (I'm definitely not an expert).

I'll google it cause now I'm curious but most likely it'll going to stay like this. It doesn't bother me that much and I'm afraid I might mess up the paint. That would be unfortunate.

Either way, it looks really good and you should be proud.

Β Thank you.
Google didn't really help. It seems the solution is to give things a layer of matte clear coat ...
Β I tried to rub it with 1200 sandpaper lightly. Seems to kill the glossiness somewhat. Still not as matte as the shark but good enough. Better to leave it alone before I ruin it. Just need to keep this in mind if I do some other thing.
