Turians are hard too. I tried like 2 times and only 1 of them turned out decent.

She looks formidable...

flatlinedreams [2013-12-12 02:05:15 +0000 UTC]
She looks very proud, strong and wise.Β Those light blue lines on her upper chest and upper arms look too deep to be tribal painting.Β I wonder if they're ritual or artistic scarring.Β I like that she's topless.Β Thessia has a slightly higher average temperature than Earth, and has less environmental variety.Β Not only do the asari not have hair, maybe they wore less clothing because they didn't need to.
I like learning about the ancient forms of the Mass Effect species.Β Unfortunately, the way this was handled in ME3 was exactly how NOT to do it.

Β You guessed correctly. Good eye to catch it too. Those are indeed ritual scars. Mark of the huntress I would say. Not much more info about that I really didn't think much into it beyond the visuals. So I'm not doing it the right way either ... but hey, I'm just one guy making silly asari pictures )))

flatlinedreams In reply to LuckyFK [2013-12-12 05:40:53 +0000 UTC]
You're doing it the right way.Β That's detail you could have left out but didn't.Β It gives the picture and the Huntress more depth.
Also, I forgot to mention, I like that she's standing in water.Β People seem to have it in their head that the asari have a clearer evolutionary tie to water than humans.Β You said you drew her standing in water "for some reason".Β Maybe that was the reason?Β
Anyway, the asari share a common ancestor with the "manal", a primate-analogue, which is to the asari what the chimpanzee is to humans.Β There are no pictures of it, but I'm guessing it looks something like a sleeker, bluer, hairless chimpanzee with head-tentacles.Β Maybe that's something you'll want to make a picture of?

LuckyFK In reply to flatlinedreams [2013-12-12 06:28:29 +0000 UTC]
Β The water bit. Probably because of that. But I think they come a long way to reach this stage. They're good swimmers and divers I think ... but that's about it. Hm, maybe I do put a little bit of thought behind the designs ))) Have no explanation for the cloth aside from "it looks cool" though.
Β I'm not sure I want to make a picture of hairless chimpanzee, but you planted the idea in my mind ... clever plan )))

Really cool! She has the sort of stand and glare of a huntress, which u don't see often in detailed pics like this; they miss little things out like that. I think the clothing and her weaponry(spear isn't it?) is really good for the time I'm imagining this in. Some kind of Asari BC or whateves.Β
Overall a brilliant work of art, keep doing what your doing.
