I can't believe this is my second collab with you, Sylv! I lowkey forgot about our first one, sorry! xD But hey, it was pretty fun doing this, and I'm glad we get to bring these two closer together >w>

This is a COLLAB through and through! I did the Sketch, and Shading portions while Sylv did the Lining and Coloring portions! And, the story below was also a collab as well. I did write a good portion of it, but Sylv helped and peer reviewed it a bit and corrected things to make it easier to read, and made sure their character, Nova, was portrayed a little more accurately! uwu

--Storytime---

The sound of rapid and small footsteps echo in the hideout halls. Whomever this was kepted running, and would stop occasionally for directions to a certain room that harbored one of their friends….Nova. After a bit of trial and error the smaller mon had finally found the room Nova resided in, and quickly opened the door hoping the large mon was in the room. A surprised gasp came from within the room, and inside of said room stood a fusion of a Umbreon and Charizard who looked rather confused at what was going on. But, all seemed clear to him once he saw whom it was… Aster. The little Riolu and Elgyem fusion was shaking from fear, and had tears in the corners of her eyes as she looked up at Nova. Whatever happened to her it seemed clear that she was very troubled by what she went through.
Nova could easily see this, and tried to say something towards the child he’d become acquainted with and cared for, but as quick as a flash Aster instead came over to him and hugged him tightly while continuing to shake. Worry was now plaguing Nova’s mind, and he quickly spoke to break the oddly saddening silence.

“ Aster... Aster, what's wrong?” He asks this softly as he looks down at the child with concern in his eyes as she wouldn’t budge, and doesn't say a word to him after he’d asked his question. He gently brings Aster into a hug with one of his arm’s hoping the comfort from him might help her speak. “ Aster, please talk to me… I can’t help you if you don’t tell me what’s wrong.” A twinge of worry unintentionally hung in his voice as he spoke, but he couldn’t help it! He’s never seen Aster so upset like this before!

The little psychic type lets out a soft sniffle, and hugs onto Nova a little more before finally mustering up some willpower to speak towards her friend. “I-I fell into a really, really scary place… I-I’m sorry, it was a-an accident!” She managed to squeak out in soft sobs, and sounded very guilty about what she told him.

Nova seemed alarmed by her answer, but he did his best to keep his cool, and gently patted Aster’s head. “Shh.. Aster… it’s okay. Take a deep breath, and let it out slowly with me... please tell me about the little accident… I promise you’re not in trouble. I just want to know what happened.” He says this softly so as to not have her clam up about what she’s so hesitant to tell him.

She seems to follow Nova’s instructions without skipping a beat, and takes in a deep breath in and then out along with him. It seemed to settle her nerves down a little bit, and looked a lot less tense than she was before. It takes her a moment, but she manages to speak up again towards Nova. “ I-I was outside helping with the mission… a-and I wanted to help, so the mon’s younger than me wouldn’t fall in the scary holes made by the weird space team. B-but.. I fell into one on accident, and then I-I saw a big scary monster… “ She stops, and starts to sob softly into Nova and couldn’t seem to talk anymore.

He sat there astonished by what he’d told her in those few short sentences. He knew what she was talking about specifically after recalling the news that spread within the hideout. Knowing that some pokemon her age participated in one of the recent missions, and managed to fall into one of Giratina's portals is shocking. He can easily imagine the giant legendary beast must’ve been absolutely terrifying to her, and he quickly hugged Aster as gently as he could with both of his arms. “Aster, it’s okay… you fell in on accident, and had no idea that would happen when you were just trying to help” He began to speak softly to her to help her calm down more. “I bet it was really scary down there to see a pokemon like that, but just know it’s okay to be scared sometimes, Aster. Being scared is good for keeping us safe and knowing when to avoid dangerous or scary things… like you did…” Nova took a moment to take a breath in and out to calm down himself as he felt himself empathize with the child quite a lot… or more than intended really. It almost felt like he was living through the experience himself as he held onto Aster to comfort her. He then realized she didn’t tell him something a bit crucial, and gently asked her something else. “ Aster, sweetie… who got you out of the scary place?”

She tenses up a little in Nova’s arms and sniffles as she slowly recalls what he asked. “ M-Mercy… she got me out of the scary place, b-but she got really mad at me for falling in. I-I said I was sorry, but she just kept yelling until another mon told her to stop “ She begins to tear up again and cries again feeling guilty once more. “ I-I’m s-sorry, Nova I didn’t mean to fall in! It-it was an accident!”

A spark of anger ignited in him over what Aster told her about Mercy. What gives that Platinum rank any right to yell at Aster like that!? All the blue mon within his arms wanted to do was help out in the mission in whatever little way she could. And, without realizing it, a slight scowl formed on his face, but soon felt that his face had scrunched up, and quickly calmed himself down mentally. He couldn’t be mad at that orange rat right now… Aster needed his help. “ Aster no, you’re not in any kind of trouble… don’t you remember I said that earlier? Besides, what Mercy said to you doesn't matter, and you don’t have to feel bad about what happened because it was an accident… okay?”

“O-okay… “ She answered softly, and wiped away tears from her eyes as she was beginning to settle down again. She looked up at him while hugging him, and spoke up to him in a rather quiet manner. “ N-nova… can I stay here for a little bit? P-please?” How she said “please” almost sounded like she was begging him to let her stay in his room.

It almost broke his heart hearing how she spoke to him about her small request, but he mustered up a smile and nodded towards her to help her feel better. “ Yes, you can stay here as long as you want, Aster… and if it makes you feel any safer you can stay the night too!”

“ Really? “ She looked a bit shocked, but soon a smile of her own formed on her face and she nodded quickly. “ Y-yeah, that’d be super fun.. Like a sleepover! But uh, can we get some snacks though? I’m kinda hungry…” She pouts a little, and looks at her stomach.

Nova stifled a laugh, let go of Aster so she could stand on her own, and nodded again towards her. “ Of course we can get snacks… what would you like?”

Soon enough the pair went off out of the room in search of snacks within the kitchen after a bit of talking. Nova for the most part just felt relieved he could help Aster feel better after what she’d experienced, but he couldn’t help but worry slightly as well knowing some pokemon like her was going into missions like this while being so young. Maybe… he should try to keep an eye out on her more? He’d need to think about that a little more though.
