Name: Xunhua Lin
Nicknames: Prefer's to go by "Hua"
Age: 117 [China 1385, Arrived in Sybal Heim in 1750]
Physical Age: 24
Height: 5'5"
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Brown
Faction: Insurgent
The city itself is fine, but she isn't supposed to be here. She was in the middle of a war, for crying out loud. One of her major concerns is what’ll happen if and when she can finally escape this place. Will everything be as it was when she was… "misled" from it in a moment of weakness, or had things continued on in her absence?
As for supporting the Insurgents, she hasn't really taken initiative herself- more of a follower than a leader. Perhaps if and when things heat up she'll invest more than just her feelings.
Occupation: District Police
While she's not a fan of being stuck in Sybal Heim, she's long accepted that until something can be done she may as well do something worthwhile. The discipline and stability that comes with the job is comforting in it's own way. Not as intense as the army, but brings about a sense of familiarity nonetheless.
Sybal Form: "The Inversed Shin'yō" - Full Ref
What she lacks in size she makes up for in speed. She has claws on her feet, but they're not incredibly dangerous- she's got a relatively impressive maw full of teeth; not to mention a snake-like neck to further display her swiftness.
From nose to tail tip her Sybal form is approximately 12 feet and stands at about 4 feet from ground to the top of her head.
A majority of her markings and her eyes give off a bit of a glow, but nothing that would cast great amounts of light.
Physical descriptions aside, Hua wasn't very... impressed with her nightly form. It looks to her like some strange mix between a horse? cat? and a.. dragon? If her inner-self completely decided on this, it could have at least gone more dragon and granted her some wings... or something.
Sybal Power: "Eye of the Basilisk"
In the middle of her Sybal form's chest is a... pretty obvious eye. Like the non-black parts across her body, it glows- but with even more intensity. She supposes it's to draw her opponents attention so it can actually be used. As the title suggests, it has properties similar to that of the Basilisk of myth- except that it doesn't kill- it immobilizes. The stun itself has no lasting effects, but while under it's influence, can prove to be devastating.
As long as she has eye contact with the other Sybal, they're more or less paralyzed. It doesn't last forever, ten minutes in the most extreme cases... though she isn't too sure why she'd need that long. Use of the eye can be very taxing on her stamina, so in addition to the ten minute limiter, she doesn't go around stunning other Sybal's left and right all night- the eye can be, and usually is, closed.
A couple of other limiters to it annoy Hua, mainly the limit to one target... but she understands why. Can't exactly hold eye contact with several others if you've only got one. The other bit she gets- just as annoying since it can cause confusion to the eye(and in turn, herself). If they don't have any visible eyes, she can't do squat with her ability, and at times the eye will become a bit overwhelmed searching for any.
Docile or Feral: Docile
She prefers to keep to herself during the night, not really looking for fights or anything in particular. If there’s a conflict, her sense of duty will kick in and she’ll try to intervene- sometimes if usage of her eye is necessary, she will. Personality:
When she's on the job she's reserved, to say the least. Reserved and focused. She doesn't care for goofing off or getting sidetracked if there's a task at hand. She likes to think that she has a generous amount of patience- especially when it comes to the previously mentioned dislike. Despite her easily earned loyalty, Hua’s trust is another matter. While she’s not working- and in turn, more sociable, she can be pretty friendly but doesn’t give up much about herself, concerning herself in the matters of others rather than deal with her own situation(s). If something is going on with her, she’ll try to deal with it on her own, confident in her own abilities. She’ll eventually ask for help, but not without struggling to do so.
History:
Growing up with a father for a soldier, discipline was one of the most touched upon factors in her life. Even when Hua’s father wasn’t around(which wasn’t too often, due to the army not as importantly viewed as it would come to be), her mother kept everything in order. Things were strict, she was even taught some fighting skills and the like alongside her younger brother. But where her interest grew, his waned- by some ironic turn of events she wanted to join the army and he wanted to take care of the family home.
Achieving a position in the army wasn’t… easy, but having her father as a good soldier to put in word for her helped, even as a woman. She was able to prove herself and get assigned to some nameless division; and she was content. She preferred being in the field, thus did not pursue a higher position.
Eventually, during a patrol in the outskirts of one of China’s smaller territories, her group was ambushed. All boring details aside, they did not come out out of it on top. She had come out of it alive, at least, but she’d ended up alone. With no serious wounds, she made it immediate priority to get out of the wilds… back to civilization. Days without any such luck, weariness made way for desperation, loss of hope, and doubts. Despite originally loving what she did, negative thoughts did plague her now and then- questioning her resolve, making her tired of the fight in her lowest moments.
A way out of all this eventually came to her, passing trees that finally looked different, although she hadn’t completely realized the out was of the permanent sort. Not death, no, but Sybal Heim. At first she greeted the city with open arms, taking everything in with gratitude, but as her she settled into this new life so too did a sense of guilt. She had abandoned everything in a moment of weakness and she needed to right that.
Additional Info: crying I can’t think of anything extra to add really…
- Eventually let hair grow out because that is just not convenient in the army, but aethstetic.
