Description Commission for nick-metroid as a Christmas gift for EccoCode :3 please read backstory below which I threw in as an extra as they're both friends of mine.
Eccocode's "metafin" species is copyrighted EccoCode
------------------------

Nick walked up to the shoreline of his local beach and scanned the waves for any sign of his friend Eccocode. It was a mild winter’s day and the water was relatively calm.
Upon sensing the presence of Nick at the water’s edge, Eccocode grinned and jetted off at full speed towards the beach.
Nick noticed a blue fin sticking out of the water quite a distance away, rushing towards him like a hungry shark. He smiled and waited for his friend excitedly. He could see a large dolphin-shaped tail slapping the surface of the water occasionally, increasing in size as it neared.
Finally, with a large splash, Eccocode fully emerged from the sea with both arms waving in the air, legs pointed downwards as his tail propelled him upwards. He flashed his grey-coloured underside and bright red body stripe, then came crashing back down with another almighty splash and disappeared for several moments.
Nick laughed and pulled off his trainers and t-shirt leaving only his beach shorts. He began wading out into the sea to meet his friend.

As the water got deeper for Nick, it became shallower for Eccocode. The humanoid dolphin touched the seabed with his feet and began wading towards Nick leisurely until the two of them were face to face.
They gave each other a quick embrace as a greeting before Nick spoke the words “I’ve brought you a gift, Merry Christmas!”
Eccocode grinned again and rubbed his hands together eagerly.
“Wow, really?”
Nick nodded and reached into the pocket of his beach shorts, pulling out a glistening, waterproof feather which resembled something from a mythical being. It was silver in colour and rather than tapering to a point like most feathers, it split apart from the central shaft to create a unique shape.
Eccocode’s blue eyes lit up. He always enjoyed it when Nick brought him feathers but there was something amazingly special about this one. It seemed familiar almost, as if he could have encountered one in the depths of his ocean home before.
“No…” he thought, that was unlikely for a feather…

He reached out and took the feather from Nick’s hands, mouth wide open in wonder.
“Oh thank you Nick, this is truly brilliant!”
“I thought so too, I almost wanted to keep it for myself. I’ve never seen anything like this before!”
“What type of bird should adorn such dazzling feathers, Nick?”
“I couldn’t even begin to guess!”
The two mused over the possibilities of rare birds for a short time before Eccocode looked up at Nick with a mischievous gleam in his eyes.
“You know, I have a Christmas present for you too!”
Nick laughed, “Really? Oh, you shouldn’t have!”
“But it’s my pleasure, trust me on that! Want to see it then?”
Nick nodded vigorously with excited but curious eyes. He wondered what sort of fun this gift might bring him, knowing Eccocode’s impish nature.
Before Nick could wonder for much longer Eccocode grabbed his arm, flashed a grin and dragged him into the sea at high speed, tail thrusting them ever deeper into the depths!

Nick began to struggle, barely having any breath to hold. His eyes stung with the salty water and he panicked for a moment before closing them and trusting that his friend would keep him safe.
The pressure started to build around Nick’s body and he worried that perhaps Eccocode had miscalculated the depths at which a human could survive before being crushed.
He opened his eyes to try and meet the eyes of Eccocode, to gauge whether there was any hint of them slowing or stopping. Surely enough there was, Eccocode looked back at Nick and let his arm go. Nick instinctively placed both arms around his neck to indicate to Eccocode that he could barely breath. Eccocode turned around to face him and with a calm expression, he softly spoke the words “Merry Christmas to you too.”

With that, the human-shaped dolphin held out his arm and positioned his palm in front of Nick’s face. His entire hand began to glow electric blue.
The pain in Nick’s chest melted away, he was no longer suffocating under the blanket of ocean. His entire body tingled, a stark contrast to the crushing feeling he had experienced moments ago.
Nick glowed the same shade of electric blue that radiated from Eccocode’s hand. The water around them lit up from the light and Nick closed his eyes once more, not understanding what was happening to him.
He felt a coolness rush over his skin, from his head out to his body and right over to the tips of his fingers and toes. It engulfed him, but he still kept his eyes closed and waited for it all to end.
He felt his face becoming cooler than the rest of him, his nose twitched and his mouth felt strange. He couldn’t even begin to imagine what was going on under the light of Eccocode.
He suddenly felt an odd sensation of something behind his back getting bigger by the second. He reached his tingly arms around himself and placed his hands on the growing object. Then he gasped, for he could feel the touch of his own hands! He had grown a long flexible tail and as he patted it up and down, he felt that it must be shaped very similarly to Eccocode’s own tail.
He opened his eyes in shock and locked onto Eccocode who was still holding out his palm and now giggling to himself.
The blue light started to fade away. Nick helplessly drifted down towards a bed of sand, surrounded by kelp waving in the ocean current. He held out his hand hoping for Eccocode to reach for him, but Eccocode did no such thing.
Instead he laughed out loud and called to his friend, “Beat your tail fins!”
Nick orientated himself in the only way he knew how, by using his arms and legs. The blue light from Eccocode had faded now but Nick could still see his surroundings with his new eyes. He finished positioning himself in an upright position then gave his tail a flick. He gently cruised through the water which made him feel good, so he gave his tail a strong push and whizzed upwards.
Relaxing now, Nick laughed and giggled as he swam with his new body around and around. He circled Eccocode, swam deeper and shallower, further and nearer. Eccocode clapped his hands together and laughed along with Nick.
“Do you like your Christmas present? Want to spend the rest of Christmas day down here with me? I have so much I could show you!” cried Eccocode.
Nick yelped in delight, “I love my present and I’d love to spend more time with you! Please show me your world and maybe we can do this more regularly?”
Eccocode nodded happily and took Nick by the hand. They jetted off with their powerful tails into a deep coral reef where they began exploring the wonders of the ocean together.

Somewhere in the distance was a flash of silver as a stealthy beast blended into its surroundings, observing the two creatures quietly with a smile across its beak…
