Description Apparently now I can! I figured out how to digital paint SOMEWHAT in SAI. I could use some help and pointers but not shabby. I need to push the values more but that is a personal art problem I've had for years. Oh, it's all single layer too. Enjoy my dorky poke'sona~

Soft shading is so fun to do, to just keep adding layers on top of layers, so I think it's easy to kinda get lost in the work and forget what you are really seeing.

I really like this though, there's enough definition for me to tell what everything is. Something that may help that I've been trying lately, is to first lay out all the shades cel-shading style, and then do the soft shading afterwards. That way you're guaranteed some kind of solid value.

Hey hey if you're lookin for advice on Sai, I can give you tons of pointers :'D I've been using it for about 2 years now, and I've picked up tons of tips and tricks! Though if I get into it, it'd be a pretty massive post, so I'd rather ask first if you'd be interested in hearing from me?

I will say though, this is pretty great for a first painting! I do agree that you can definitely get some stronger shadows in there, and probably some stronger highlights as well, and perhaps a splash of color would pretty it up :'D but for now this is super adorable haha!

this is pretty cool and adorable at the same time, I like it ^^

only suggestion I could give is (as person below worded so much better than I could) higher contrast shading and maybe a bit of texture.

(p.s. I have no life so if you ever want random paint tool sai tips I am open)

Yeah that's what I meant by my inability to push my values in the description, it's a problem I apparently have with all my art. My instructors nag me all the time and yet I just can't do it, it's annoying. And yeah sure! I doubt digi painting is my thing but eeh I can't art well apparently anymore soo yeah. I have only done "paint" stuff in Corel Painter which already gives textures by itself buuut yey, I'm lazy too. I'd appreciate some help~!

just keep trying and eventually you'll find your flow everyone does
sure some people tell you how to do things but sometime its best to do it yourself   I've seen alot of artist self taught  but it doesn't hurt to do your own thing and learn how to do things better by yourself

btw what are  values?

p.s this looks awesome!!!

Only advice I have to give in terms of improvement is maybe some higher contrast shading to make the shapes more apparent, but other than that this looks pretty good! I do know of a really good dragon eye tutorial I could link you to if you want, although I think it's for Photoshop.
