BIO summary:

Toa Nyahru was an Av-Matoran, and later, a Toa of light [with plasma]. She was part of a culture of Av-Matoran who lived on the Southern Continent. The people of her village were quite peaceful, and looked after their own. Unlike the Karda Nui Matoran, they did not need jetpacks or light powered tools. In fact, they carried few to no weapons, for they have the ability to use their element with ease, but they were not as powerful as your average Toa warrior. Nyahru’s name is actually an anagram of the island name “Nynrah”, home of the “Nynrah Ghosts”. Which is a subtle hint to her destiny as a Toa.

Once again, they traveled back to Karda Nui in hopes of escaping their pursuer: Makuta Icarax. After the Battle of Karda Nui, they managed to escape the Matoran Universe, thus, ending up in Spherus Magna’s great ocean, Aqua Magna. The Matoran Island Chain was still intact, as they traveled to the Southern Islands. They found an abandoned settlement, and commandeered a working boat, to travel away from the islands and find one of the mainlands of Spherus Magna. After Makuta Teridax hijacked Mata Nui's robot and Spherus Magna broke up into Bara Magna, she and her group had to survive for years on the vast, arid, and barren remnant of Spherus Magna. Until Mata Nui crash landed back on what was their former planet.

She and her friends did not normally transform into Toa (via Toa stones, etc.), they "gradually" matured into Toa (like an Agori to a Glatorian). She does not have any weapon of choice, except she is a martial artist who utilizes her element to both heal and destroy (I was watching the anime "Hokuto no Ken" around the time of her conception).

My early fan canon (and still is to this day) was to take place during the battle of Bara Magna. Where that the battle instead was a 2 year long war between the combined forces of Toa/Glatorian, and Teridax's legions with the Skrall and some surviving Karda Nui Makuta. She and her Toa friends would go on to meet Takanuva, Gresh, Tahu, and the rest of Bionicle's great heroes as they fight for their displaced god, Mata Nui, and the very planet that was taken from them... But little did Takanuva and Nyahru's group know, that a surviving yet begrudged Karda Nui Makuta is plotting an Av-Matoran genocide.
