It's based on an Axolotl actually, I would guess, which is and animal. Looking at the names: Axurn (AXolotl+Burn) , Scorxol (Scorch+aXOLotl) , Xolinder (aXOLotl+Cinder). I am sick of fire-fighting types, but isn't the point of Pokémon to be based off of animals? (And plants, mythical creatures, etc. But mostly animals)
