Description
This was part of a college assignment for telling a story in a stained-glass drawing. For my story, I chose the Inferno by Dante Alighieri. You can see various symbols such as Dante having a halo around him (signifying his Christianity), a pentacle above the castle (since it originated as a pagan symbol before it became associated with Satanism), Virgil being below him (as his guide through Hell), Ovid and Lucan surrounding Dante (since he would later mention both poets in a comparison he makes in Canto 24 or 25), and King Minos in the lower right corner having bull legs and horns (symbolizing his involvement with the Minotaur).
I used a large source of inspirations for the designs and colors, such as Priamo Della Quercia’s illustration of Limbo, Alexander Litovchenko’s depiction of Charon, and a composite design of King Minos inspired by Wayne Barlowe, Michelangelo Buonarroti, and... my own idea (the bull aspects were something personally I added, due to my love for Greek mythology).
Edit: Took a better picture of it, and just in time for Dante’s journey, which began on April 7th, 1300.
