Description
The Mothership variant of the earth cruiser was created to solve two problems. The first was the aging fleet of MK1 earth cruisers, which although weapons and engines could be salvaged into the new hammerhead frames, There would be a significant ammount of material left behind, and a long lead time on the construction of a new frame. The other problem being the new earth destroyers, incredibly capable battle craft with very little range, due to the lack of crew facilities.

The solution, the mothership variant, is a stripped out MK1 cruiser. The stripping of the cruiser allows two destroyers to be carried alongside the vessel, and for weapons and equipment to be recycled into newer hammerhead vessels.

Only half of the original modular cannons remain onboard, and only the front hadron cannon is active. all the equipment for the other two rear hadron cannons is removed. The cruiser is left fairly uncapable in combat but reinforced in critical areas to make it more resilant, and also to strengthen the frame where it carries the destroyers.

Only the most fearless warmoungers of captains are chosen for these vessels, who would embrace the challenge of commanding two battleships and one hardy junker.
