(This icon was actually made by my friend !! It's so cute isn't it? >w< )
<-- This was actually made in a new program I just started using called Toonboom! Unfortunately as I found out, it sucks for gifs like this because you can't export the animation as a gif, so it's really round-about in how I had to export the frames.
<-- This one I animated the sketch in Flash (really old version of Flash) and then just traced over in PaintTool SAI, which I then transferred all the frames to Photoshop Cs5 and used the little animate feature to finally finish up.
<--All my pixel animations were done with a combination of SAI and PS as well, no Flash. (Although this makes it hard because you can't easily cycle through the animation to constantly see how it flows together)
<-- And this was made on the free program Flipnote Studios that comes with the Nintendo DSi, lol.

Oh gosh, I know what you mean, it's a real pain to have to separate and export all the frames DX I had tons of issues like that with one of the animation programs I use... oh yeah, Toon Boom! I had a free trial but in all honesty I couldn't figure it out and didn't really like the layout. Then I took a Flash class and that was the only option in my opinion after that LOL!
Did you get it for free because it was an old version? : o Or is it the creative cloud version of adobe Flash?Β

Aaaah again I don't have SAI, I work on a mac so yeah ;^; Ohh I see, about the cycling through/playing back. That sort of thing doesn't bother me when it's a short-ish animation
That's so cool ;u; It looks great! I used an online site called doInk for a while, but it got shut down. I did use a free software called Pencil, which is awesome but it's better for sketchy-style animations. I actually won a national thing for one animation I did in it, I don't have a .GIF of it but here's the vid (IT'S REALLY old, OTL):Β vimeo.com/73256700
On that same vimeo channel, I have a few other Pencil animations, I've done a lot more than I post though and a lot of the other videos are super old.
But I took a flash animation course over the summer, and I absolutely loved it so I bought a month's worth of the creative cloud version and have been working with that for these looping gifs I post here! ^^Β

The old version I had I bought back in 2004, seriously. I still have this crazy old program. I was lucky enough to get Toonboom download from a friend who had a copy.
Ohhhh yeah SAI doesn't work on Macs, sorry.
It doesn't bother me with shorter animations either, which is why that's the majority of what I upload. BUT I would enjoy doing longer animations. I honestly do miss making movies with sound on Flash. That's the biggest thing I miss about it. Plus action scripts and fun little buttons. Ugggh I wish I had a newer version.

It's totally fine, yeah I've looked into it a lot X'D I've settled on Corel painter Essentials (it's more the type of thing to use for actual digital "painting". It has tons of different brushes and tries to make the painting as "realistic" as possible) and Firealpaca ^^ Firealpaca doesn't have as many tools or options as I'd like, but it's fun to work with
Yeah same here. Flash just makes it so easy to do long animations, with its perfectly controlled onion skins and easy play through button... I was so happy when I got it :'D I like animating lineart or, again, in that sketchy-type style, but colored animations seriously try my patience x'DΒ
Goodness I totally forgot about the sound part of Flash lol. x'D My neighborhood friends and I used to pretend we were a wolf pack (in all honesty I wish we still did lol, it was so fun) and we had this dream of doing an animated series about it. 'Course it never happened because once again, colored animations aren't really my forte and Pencil was too glitchy to keep the sound files we exported in. xP

Yes! It's good, the tools are few and a little faulty sometimes but it's nice for sketching and playing around

Well I never took it out of the apartment... and I thought my boyfriend at the time had accidentally taken it with him when he moved out, but after both of us having moved twice since then and never finding it, I have given up. 8( So lame. (I only had the stupid programs for a couple years and never even got to use Flash)
HMM well if you ever find the exe. of Macromedia Flash Professional 2004.... I'll give you my code! LOL. It's unlimited use. (back in the day, huh?)
But it sucks... really. It's so old and gross. You don't want it. Not modern at ALL.

Never heard of Firealpaca though.
Toonboom has onionskins and a really nice interface for animation. It's actually a ton better for cartooning and coloring. The layers are so much easier to understand and it's more manageable for creating easy animations I feel like. But you're missing the movie elements and clickable interfaces that Flash provides unfortunately. I think using both Flash AND toonboom together would be ideal, really.
I have already downloaded it! Mwahah. Just need to find the time to play around in it now, haha.

I agree Toonboom is a bit much to learn. I watched a couple tutorials and got the basic jist of it I suppose, but a class or some more tutorials would definitely be needed for me doing anything beyond simple silly animations.
