Description Finally.

I started drawing this back in December. Then I sort of didn't work on it for a good while. Then my good friend helped motivate me and lo and behold! It actually got finished! Big thank you to him!

I drew Lucy as a mermaid before, but that was a simple MS Paint sketch.

Also, buildings are hard to draw/paint/whatever. I keep seeing those speedpaints of cities and think "wooooow", but when I try, I end up with blobs of stuff. At least I somehow managed to make it seem like a sunken city this time.

As for the surface, I used this tutorial . I originally wanted to inclue a ship up there, but I ran into complications. For one, I can't draw ships. Secondly, I don't know how I would have made it look good with the surface. But that's fine, I suppose.

Oh my goodness I am stunned. The hands, fingers, and shading are amazing! Don't even get me started about those scales because I just stared at them for so long wondering how on earth you pulled that off. They're just so beautiful <3

Hehe, thank you.~ It's one of my proudest works that I'm yet to beat. I can't remember how I did the scales, but I think it was me using a whole lot of different brush settings over each one until it looked nice. Glad you like it! ^^

this is just my suggestion, but the tail seems a bit too wide near her torso. other than that i absolutely love it!

This awesomeness at its best. I love the detail you put in coloring. I like the background. I like how her hair flows. I like her tail. I especially love how smooth and shiny her fins look.

Thank you, I'm quite proud of this piece. I'd still like to improve my skills with backgrounds, however. I guess this deserves to look good, what with being roughly half a year in the making. Not that I worked on it all that time, just little work spread over a long period of time.

Thank you. I used a tutorial to make the surface. I added the ship because that part of the background seemed too empty otherwise. I would have liked to add a ship sailing on the surface, but I didn't know how to make it look good so I scrapped that idea.

Yeah, it took quite a bit of time to finish this, even if most of that was just me being lazy.

The main reason I can't use this for Dark's Platoon is because the lineart isn't clean and I can't use the bucket tool to color it. Even if the lineart was clean, I like the way this method looks better.

Yeah, it can get tricky. Can't make the strips too complicated or one will end up spending a whole month drawing nothing but comics. Coming up with ideas is tough too, especially for strips that focus more on being funny rather than story-driven.

Your works don't need backgrounds most of the time to work. I guess it wouldn't hurt to draw them every once in a while, though.

Maybe I should start making up my own kinds of buildings... Hmm...Or create them in minecraft and copy from there...
