Description In this vast world, we're all kind of like kids. Small and insignificant always wondering what's out there.


For those of you wondering:

I DID NOT USE ANY SPECIAL BRUSHES FOR THIS. I USED THE DEFAULT BRUSHES ON PHOTOSHOP TO MAKE THIS.

And also:

I MADE THIS ENTIRELY FROM SCRATCH. I DID NOT USE PATTERNS, PRE-MADE BACKGROUNDS, ETC.

Yeah. Every single piece of this image was drawn by me down to every single blade of grass which were each individually drawn. LOL I'm crazy, but hopefully the good kind. XD I did use references off of Google Images and lots of help from Adobe Photoshop's online manual though, so it wasn't without a little research. XD

I wanted to try to work on creating backgrounds more because I always seem to lack terribly in that department. So I downplayed the character here (I don't even show her face!) and made the background the most important element. It should have a sense of an ethereal, vast night sky on a quiet field with a slight breeze. Lots of subtle glowing things.

This is also one of the first images that I have done completely digitally, from start to finish. lol How does it compare?

-Adobe Photoshop CS5 (all the drawing, coloring, and effects)
-5 hours (from start to finish)

Love the way the sky seems like you're inside a sphere if you look at the right angle. The clouds rock too, mind sharing how you did them?

I don't quite remember since it's been a really long time. I think I used a normal hard brush on Adobe Photoshop with 45% opacity and 50% flow. I overlapped several colors to get the cloud effect, but I have no real way to explain exactly how they're done.

I LOVE this picture! You did a great job! I drew a picture similar to this once.. but it was in the middle of a battlefield and a lone soldier was standing in the middle of a field looking up at the stars... but there were.. well bodies everywhere xD so kinda gruesome, but it was like something you would see in an anime. Also I have a question. I would LOVE to use this as my wallpaper, I'm pretty new to Deviant Art so I'm just wondering if that watermark has to be there? Or is there a clean version I can get?

You are free to use this as your wallpaper, but the watermark has to be kept on there.
Sorry. Having dealt with some art thief issues, it's just a precaution.

Amazing detail! I love that you did this from scratch. It always feels like cheating when you use other brushes, even though there's nothing wrong with that. Anyway, kudos, this looks fantastic. Love the sky!!

Ah, I actually didn't notice because the original image was kind of fuzzy as well from all the glow I put in. LOL It sort of looks that way anyway. The image wasn't that big to begin with. XD

Those glowing specks are either fireflies or magic. (I hope it's the latter because I like magical things!)

OHMYGOD, this is so cool, I really love the detail that you put in this, hey, the sky looks really pretty, heheheh, it's like the solar system, did you seriously draw every blade of grass (and the dots in the sky too) because that's just AWESOME, and it only took you 5 hours, AWESOME!!!

Hahaha~ I really like night skies! I hear they look very magical like this far, far, far up north. There is too much light pollution around here to see skies like this.
