You should go! I was lucky, he came with his whole band, and they gave a marvelous performance. I do suppose he's incredibly charming just on his own though, but I loved the funkiness that he and his band produced - pure magic.

Quelle jolie photo !
Hey...
I remember. I was there...Le Grand Mix is the answer.
I had already seen Coco Rosie at a Blonde Redhead show. So, I knew it would be fine...
But, damn me, Devendra rocked !
And what a finale...
Wait, hmm, Oh !
I'm looking at your website. The Ex Party, TV on the Radio, Liars, Blonde R...
Seems like we have more than one concert "en commun".
See you next time (je porterai un sweat Γ capuche, vous me reconnaitrez facilement, niark niark...).

Very nice, excellent shot. Everything looks great, the movement of the right hand, the concentrated singing expression...and the black/white works well. Good job.
That dude is supposed to be a bit crazy, isn't he?
And did Joanna Newsom happen to open for him?

Who? Jeffrey Lewis and CocoRosie opened for him and if he's regarded as being a bit crazy then I suppose I am too.
I'm a big fan. He's quirky and special, but not crazy. Crazy has such a bad vibe to it.

Haha! We're going to interview him soon, do you mind if we share that anecdote with him? No names shall be mentioned
He's a jittery fellow too, kept moving the whole time. Still, most of the photos, if not all, came out lovely and sharp, best set of concert photos I've taken since the 5, 6, 7, 8's.. which haven't even been scanned in yet, ha.

i've heard many many good comments about him. what does he sound like? what songs could you recommend me?

A bit folky, I suppose. When I first heard his (second?) album Oh me oh my for the first time I thought it had been recorded in the '70's. You need to hear him for yourself though, I'm biased as I'm a big fan. And which songs.. he's made so many in such a short time. If you're on Soulseek you could easily find all of his albums, they're all worth listening to, but Oh me oh my is my personal favourite.

he sounds like devendra banhart. no shit.
a bit folky I suppose. when i first heard his (second?) album oh me oh my i thought it had been recorded in the '70's and i was very surprised to find out that it was very contemporary.
i'm very biased though, i'm a very big fan of mister banhart.

And how. I simply love this music. I'm preaching the good word right now to my friends.
I'm sneaking those albums right now, me thinks I will buy them soon to. Good people should be supported. I heard some sort of collection with his name on, the golden apples of the sun. I was supprised to find a track by esper there. A act I discoverd a few weeks ago.
Thank you for sharing this.
Anything else you could recommend little old me?

CocoRosie! Have you heard anything about them? Two sisters, closely linked to Devendra because 1. they're all based in New York and 2. one of them, Bianca, is his girlfriend. Failing that, TV on the Radio. They're getting rather popular now, I even spotted them on Mtv. NY based as well and closely linked to Devendra.
Jeffrey Lewis is very cool too, in a more toned down sort of way. He's super nice, I had an interview with him that should be up very soon on Rien (link is in my description, also found through my site, la lune). Does great comics too. Oh and of course, Xiu Xiu, Jamie Stewart is close friends with Devendra, but perhaps their music will be too.. emotional for you. Have a listen though, they're all my favourite bands and they're all such nice people too. There's a Xiu Xiu interview+photos up on Rien anyway.

Ilford 3200 is really a kind of dificult film in many cases but that's a good choice for such photographs. And you captured the moment very well.

you think? i've used it for about a year now and i find it's a easy film to use. i've even used it in the day-time with a red filter and the contrast always comes out great.
