Something I did while I was talking to while he was a bit depressed. I just wanted to cheer him up, so this ended up coming out. I was really happy with the outcome of it though.. And I think he was too. ^^So yeah, this pic is dedicated to him. <3
This was the first picture I did while trying to improve my colouring technique.. And I think it turned out pretty well.. I'd like opinions on it though~ :3

Cross-hatching in the sky probably could be blended better. Not sure if you're after a layered appearance of colour either. Doesn't look too bad on the left side, but after the second star on top, it starts catching my eye a bit. You may have just started on the left and got slack on the right (I do that 
What I usually do with my drawings is go over it with a white pencil to make colours blend a bit better, make it smooth out n' such.
Other techniques include using an eraser lightly, or even a touch of thinners (I think that's a bit extreme myself). Could also be the type of pencil you're using. Brands like Derwent have Designer and Artist pencils. Designers have a hard middle, where as artist's ones are softer. I prefer the latter when colouring.
Having said all that, doesn't look too bad, but hey, you asked

Hm.. well to be honest, I wanted the cross-hatching to show, which is why I didn't blend it in.. XD I tried blending it where you mentioned it caught your eye, and I didn't like it as much.. so I didn't do any more. This piece was more of an experiment than anything when it comes to the background.. I wanted to try some new stuff in the colouring.. And this is what came out. I like the cross-hatched look, and was trying to keep it. X3
I've been reading about ways to blend things recently, I might do some other art with blended colours rather than the rough layered look... But I haven't done any yet.. The next few pieces I'll be adding have the cross-hatch apparent in them.

Thanks a lot~ I like bright colours... So my art tends to reflect that often.. XD I should practice more with monotone sometime, but for nao.. This style suits me best anyway. :3
