Meaning pull the wig into a ponytail, wrap it tightly, cut it off, and coat it in silicon adhesive caulk.

Did you ever have problems with the ponytail gapping? I did all the steps but the hair keeps falling to the sides making the middle of thr ponytail look sparse. Any suggestions?

lunaladyoflight In reply to s0alaina [2017-09-17 01:29:33 +0000 UTC]

You can use some wefts to cover the ball on the side that could show. I also coated it with hairspray so the top that laid over the bun didn't move much.

Thank you so much! I think I might have figured it out (with lots of hair spray and bobby pins) but I just hope everything stays. Again, thank you for this amazing tutorial, I would have been lost without it!

Just a question about the weft. Did you cut the wefts out of the clips or just glued the netting to the foam base? i am currently using this tutorial for a wig I am making and I am not sure exactly what you meant?Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

lunaladyoflight In reply to Anti-Shoujo [2016-02-04 19:28:37 +0000 UTC]

I glued the whole piece to the foam. The net adheres to the caulk.

A quick question! When you say you used 2 clip ons, is it plus the clip on that is on the Jeannie? So 3 in total, or did you just buy one extra? Β (alsoΒ something slightly unrelated - when buying clip ons from arda, you only buy one right? not a pair)Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

lunaladyoflight In reply to Enilokin [2014-08-18 17:48:22 +0000 UTC]

The Jeannie comes with a clip, so I count it and the second one that you purchase on top of that.

Since I made this tutorial they came out with the Jasmine, which is much better for the style since you only need to put in one stub. You will have to purchase two clips if you go with the Jasmine (it doesn't come with clips).

No problem! I hope it all works out for you! I always found the hardest part is waiting for the caulk to dry.

lunaladyoflight In reply to ulquiorra-fan-grl [2014-01-06 15:22:59 +0000 UTC]

Do you mean Sailor Moon tail styles?

There are plenty of those on the internet!

charmedseed.livejournal.com/54…

www.hezachan.com/chibiwigtut.h…

The ones that I originally learned from:

www.pettingzoowigs.com/wigtuto…

www.pettingzoowigs.com/wigtuto…

charmedseed.livejournal.com/10…

Some of them are for pre-made pigtail wigs, and some include the old-fashioned "Back parting" that we had to do before pigtail wigs were more widely available in a wider color range.

Hope that helps!

This is truly magnificent! Gorgeous wig and lovely tutorial as well!

I'm curious though. Would this work for this? oi43.tinypic.com/2i0t1n4.jpg
It's not as long, but I'm trying to make it so I don't need to rely on a clip-on part, as well as make sure it doesn't move either.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

lunaladyoflight In reply to xAssiduityx [2013-08-02 17:44:30 +0000 UTC]

You could use this method but I really think just a clip on would suffice. It's actually a pretty thin ponytail. You could get away with using Arda's Jasmine or Jeannie in Maroon. I don't think you'd need to go this far to achieve the look you want.

I'm sorry, but what does it mean to "Stub" the wig? Β I wasn't quite sure what you meant. Β  Β I have been trying to find a good tutorial for a thick looking, full, high ponytail and this has been very helpful, so thank you! Β And one last question.. Β Do you use that particular glue because it doesn't melt the foam? Β Thanks again!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

lunaladyoflight In reply to littlekat25 [2013-07-25 18:25:58 +0000 UTC]

I use clear adhesive caulk because it is a stronger glue for wigs. It is flexible but very stable. Plus it is cheap. You can get it in the home/tools aisle at most large big box stores (Wal*Mart/Meijer), and at every hardware store. You can use hot glue on styrofoam, I just prefer not to use it to anchor big pieces.

Katie Bair is the one that I learned stubbing from. Her tutorial is here:Β www.pettingzoowigs.com/wigtuto...

You can see in step 2 that I used two stubs for this style. This is to compensate for the Jeannie's bottom layer being too short to be swept into the top stub. Thankfully the foam piece is large enough that it covers all that.

Hope that helps!

~Luna
