Description
This is a silent book plan made for an illustration competition. The theme of the competition was "Inverted Worlds".
In this world, space and landscapes are all inverted, tangled and overlapping each other: chaos reigns. A black sun shines over the forest, which is the place where the main character, the fairy born without wings wishes to fly together with the birds. She sleeps and dreams of a different life. However, it takes a while for her to realise that dreaming only won't do anything, and to change her life she has to face her fears.
She decides to take the dark sun from the sky, and it becomes part of her: instead of shying away from her fears, she accepts them as a part of her which she has to deal with.
After this happens, harmony returns to this realm, her wings grow out and at night she flies above the forest with the owls.
I wanted to use a restricted color palette for the illustrations, mostly browns and lilac shades, so when an important element appers (i.e. the yellow eyes of the fairy, the black sun, the butterfly wings of the fairy), they stand out more.
