I agree with spoon. You did the work. You were simply inspired, is all. In my case, I am thinking I shall use Prang crayons. In my experience, they tend to melt a little better. Especially seeing as I only have a Heavy duty hair dryer, and not an embossing gun. I wish I had one of those, though.

I had the same problem trying to do it with a hair dryer D:
Looks great!

I love this piece. It looks really great the way the crayons sort of blend together so that the colors flow into each other

er.. well I don't know how much their used now but my mom used to use it for christmas cards. First you put a special glitter on the way you want and then you use the embossing gun. It makes it raised and gives it texture.

It's not like it means anything, either. Change it up guys, come on.

I've seen SOOO many many of these, and they look great and all, but I think people should start thinking of their own ways to make it different, so they're not just copying somebody else. Emphasis on copying.

So... Is there any real story to this? Or did you just post some crayons you melted and that's it...? Unless you're planning to do like, real melted crayon stuff, like, say, make it into a picture then there isn't much point is there?

Since when do you need an actual story behind art? >> I do creative stuff just for shits and giggles.
Hell, I won 1st prize in the san diego fair grounds for my piece of art, and I only did it because I needed something to receive a grade for in class.
He should of like... framed it or something though. There's too much clutter in the background.

I understand some art has no real 'meaning' to it, ((I don't much see the hype around shitty 'surreal' art when there's almost nothing on the canvas.)) All this person did was melt some crayons, I just don't see any kind of skill in this.

I wanna do that with a bunch of crayons that I have lying around downstairs in my house from my childhood. I'd probably do just blue and purple tones though at first. What kind of canvas do you recommend?

Kasdren [2012-01-16 06:03:31 +0000 UTC]
Its an interesting art concept using heat to make color and texture.
Have you considered applying this technique to 3d objects? If you could make a rig to hold the crayons above something, then you could get it to drip over anything. Could make a series of such work and enter it into a local art exhibit.
