Description

I FINALLY got around to finish her design. Fun fact: I've been working on this drawing for over a YEAR because it wasn't a priority drawing. So I was sketching, inking, coloring, shading, and so on little by little. lol

Who the heck is this:

OH MY GOD I DON'T WANT TO SHARE THIS CRAPPY ART THIS IS SO OLD AND IMMATURE UGH...
sta.sh/0e5syx403ko

This here is an old fancharacter I created during my infantile art days, when I was creating drawings with as little quality and thought as possible. She was my MAIN FC… She was a crossover fancharcter/OC but a really, REALLY bad one. The mary sue, op type of character. She still sort of is but I tried as much as possible to tone things down.

Interestingly I never got called out for it. Just nothing but praise. What the heck was wrong with you, people? lol

As I've gotten better and come up with more original stuff I’ve shelved this character quietly. I’ve grown more conscious over the years with what makes a character good, bad, and tolerable so I began to dislike my FC. I’ve redesign her lots of times but wasn’t satisfied enough to post much online. I’ve shown stuff to a couple of close friends in private but that was essentially it.

Why not redesign her into a REAL original character (No ties to IPs like fancharacters):

Well, that’s just it. Whenever I am making an original character I prefer to start from scratch. I come up with a concept, THEN the characters. With this character it’s a lot more difficult because of a nostalgic attachment I have to her.

To me fancharacters are like old toys. Original characters, on the other hand, are risks. You make original stuff to share them with the intention of making a name for yourself, but without knowing what the feedback will be. I want to make animations and games professionally. I can’t move on if I turn my FCs into original ones for an IP because I won’t be able to draw my fancharacters to de-stress from burnout.

TLDR:

Fancharacters=Fun and Games

Original characters=Serious business/experimenting

Why am I posting this:

I developed a migraine that won't go away and cannot work. However this picture was literary a few minutes away from being done. I didn't want to forget about it so I got it over with. Besides I've been drawing her a lot more.

Is she going to be an intrusive fancharacter:

Hopefully no. lol It depends how you look at it, though. I know that fancharacters/fan made OCs are taboo, though. I don’t think I can ever shatter that but to each their own I guess.

The thing is that I always wanted to make crossover comics. The problem is that crossover stories are hard to do right. To make the character mary sue crappy FC useful for once, I created her as an assistant of sorts for passersby. The comics will also be short and to the point, mainly humor based and exist there to poke fun at video game logic. I think an example would be similar to Nester in the Nintendo Power comics but not as meta…? I can’t think of anything else. lol

Actually comparing to Nester is conceited on my part. Eh. Never mind. lol I've also been thinking about it and some of the meta stuff helps as inspiration for tweaking the character some more.

Does she have an interesting backstory:

Maybe? IDK. She has one but that’s not the purpose of the character. Even if it was tragic. I would rather have you find out through clues in the small comics and illustrations rather than you reading a long wall of text. Here’s what I got so far…

------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------

Name: Lune

Species: Unknown (Lune doesn’t know it but lives on like normal anyway)

Gender: Female. : P

Age: 15-18

Occupation:

Blacksmith - Can create armor and weapons

Miner - Searches for minerals to make weapons

Baker - Her adoptive father’s idea. Lune isn’t a fan of it but bakes sweets to meet wild mons. Some of them even bring her free material in exchange, Or useless material to trick Lune into giving them freebies.

Guide - Sometimes travelers would stop by looking for help. Lune helps them for a fee.

Personality: Hard worker, aggressive, loud, easily frustrated. She hates slackers but encourages them to work, assuming that they just need companionship and understanding. (in her weird way) Cheers people on and believes in second chances. Potty mouth, hot head. Sometimes scares customers and passersby away. Impatient but cooperative. Can be very nosy at times. Lune hates freeloaders and swindlers (unless they are kids) and can be unforgiving. Has pride in work and loves money. Aloof, believe it or not.

Her own species is also savage like so she comes off as a dumbass to other people who don't know her very well, due to her lack of self control.

Abilities/Powers:

Extra limbs- Lune’s hair works as an extended limb. It can turn into 1-4 hands. It looks OP but if you cut her hair (which is very easy to do) she doesn’t have powers anymore and functions like a normal human. Hair takes around 3 months to grow. It is also used as a tool for mining.

Warp-teleports herself for a few feet for dodging only. Lune can also warp things for storage which she uses for mining. Because her hair is fragile she puts on armor on it when extending her limbs.

Other: Her species have strong legs. Legs are great for hoping long distances which means faster running. Her people are also primal like so she shares some of these traits in her attitude.

Skills:

Can fight: No hair=Useless so she had to learn how to fight.
Weapon/Armor Making
She can bake goods. Like cookies and cake and pokepuffs. Lune uses this to bribe people. : P

Interests:

Loves to read books - Lune is the type of character that would read EVERY LINE OF FREAKING DIALOGUE AND BOOK just to see what it says. It’s similar to what you can do in games when visiting a town. You can progress through the game but nah. Characters tend to complain because of this.

Feeding mons – No, Lune doesn’t own a Mew. There is one that bugs her for pastries weekly, though. Lune has no idea how valuable a Mew actually is.

Interfering with the life of others – Sometimes Lune uses her guide occupation to go on adventures with the other characters. Some people invite her, others do not because it’s considered creepy and self inserty.

-------------------------------------------------------

And that’s…essentially it. Not a great character but eh. lol

My character's mainly built around the OC/Fancharcter tropes, though. Fan OCs are seen as very lame but I wanted to see if I can use that to my advantage. I thought it was a fun experiment with how other official characters would actually react instead of praising the crap out of the fanmade OC.
