"Why are you here, boy?" the creature hissed. It circled him, its bones making a series of clicking and snapping noises as it walked. He remained silent, still trying to comprehend the monstrosity in front of him. It growled; a deep, guttural sound that resembled far-off thunder. "I asked why you were here," it repeated, taking a heavy step toward him.

He jumped slightly. "Uhh--um--I--I don't...really know..." he stammered. "It...wasn't really on purpose..."

The monster stopped walking and stared at him. He figured that if it had eyebrows, one would be raised. "No one comes to this place without a reason," it said sternly. Then it lowered its massive head so it was at eye level with him. Its skull-head prevented it from smiling, but there was a sort of morbid amusement in its raspy voice. "If you don't have a purpose here, then we'll just have to find you one..."

I am definitely not a writer. But this needed a little bit of story to go with it.

Anyway! Last minute entry to 's contest. This idea's been nagging at me since it was first announced, but I didn't have any time to do it until now. (In fact, I definitely put aside other stuff I was supposed to be working on tonight to finish this off. XD)

Ok, so, yeah, giant monster critter. Yes, that thing pretty much wears its skeleton on the outside. Most of it. Presumably there would have to be a few inner bones for support. Or something like that. I make no claim of being a fantasy anatomy expert XD. The skeleton was originally based (loosely!) on that of a rabbit, but that sort of got forgotten XD.

(And in case you DC readers are wondering, the fuzzy eared kid it's talking to is indeed a half-creature. He's a more or less minor character that won't show up until wayyyy later anyway. So don't worry about him.)
