Description Scanner! It lives! So here is my figure drawing final project. The idea of the project was to do an art piece in the style of a master. Most people chose a lot of more abstract painters but I chose to go with Albrecht Dürer who was famous for his woodcuts and engravings of mythological/biblical pieces as well as real life every-day scenes... I went with the tale of the Virgin and the Unicorn to use my ability with creatures because essentially the requirement was that it had to have a person portrayed in it. Figured that worked well enough.

So yeah, my rendition with a signature similar to Dürer's on that stone in the corner.

It's micron pens on bristol 11"x14"

I'd like to do more pen work in the future. This one was fun... but those leaves were the death of me to draw in pencil... once I was shading it was more interesting.

Oh! I'm studying Durer atm as well! I'm finding it hard to not concentrate solely on his depiction of animals though. That horse in 'Knight, Death and the Devil', I'm in love with it, and all his engravings!
SO much lovely detail, like this here piece

I love Durer... sometimes it's a little to easy to seehe used muscle structure to study, like with his very, er, muscular women >.> But his animals are amazing. And I love his watercolor.

And thanks!

Lovely If I hadn't read your comments I would have posted that it looked like Dürer's style The expression on the woman's face is very... comforting? In a sad but kind manner...

I was zoning out looking at this, and with my eyes crossed I got the random thought that you could draw one fantasmic centaur! (don't ask what goes on in my head... its not worth explaining! )

Thanks! This one was such a fun challenge. I like using these classes to test new things. I certainly wouldn't have tried something like this out of school.

Wow, awesome job. The leaves do look like they were a lot of work, but they turned out great. Nice work with the crosshatching, too.

Absolutely beautiful.

The detail you've managed to capture with pen is too lovely for words. And the emotion is so powerful - it really communicates well. The background is just as fantastic as the two subjects, too. The solid, dramatic contrast of the shadows on the leaves and the subtle crosshatching behind them pulls it all together very nicely.

Awesome job!

Hehe, thanks! It was a rough go... nothing compared to Dürer's work on detail tho. >.< sometimes the man did was too much detail. I can only assume he was one of those many artists who studied anatomy in morgues and off of real dead people because some of his women have definition where there really shouldn't which would only really be established by seeing how their body is put together. Sooo yeah, tried to avoid that, myself, lol.
