I know I said I won't upload anything until July, but I couldn't let this pass by...
At first I was thinking of doing something with my OC LGTBQ+ couples, but 1) didn't have the time for any of the ideas I came up with, 2) I haven't drawn before some of the characters and I don't like rushing things without having a definite design at least and 3) I wanted something more personal.
I choose Spirit because coming in terms with your sexuality, it's a spiritual journey to find yourself imo.
Tbh there was going to be a rant, but after seeing so many artists proudly saying they are Asexuals, I don't wanna give a damn about what other people say about it anymore. And all members of the LGTBQ+ community have heard at some point in their lives the same thing. That there must be something wrong with them because they don't fit the "norm".
The thing is that life isn't black and white. People tend to fall into this type of mindset because it's easy. It's easy to divide gender into two types. It's easy to believe you can only have feelings for the opposite gender. It's easy to say that everyone needs a significant other to be happy. But life isn't easy or simple and that's the beauty of it.

Onto the technical part.
I edited several things digitally (especially the glowing parts), so I'm probably going to upload on my IG the original because I like how it turned out. It was fun coming up with this skin color tbh. I was also kinda inspired by mcptato 's daily doodles. You should totally check them out if you haven't already!

This artwork is beautiful! And your comments really resonate with me sooo much! There is no black and white, people are complicated.
In all honestly everyone is different so in the end is there really a norm anyway? It might be more of an illusion that there is a norm.
I wish more people would take the time to listen and try and understand others experiences, even if they differ from their own. We are all different and that is beautiful! If we listen to each other rather than assuming we know already, I feel we could all exist together well ^^

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on the matter with me! ^w^ I fully agree with everything you said. It's just sad that most people are quick to judge and don't bother listening to the other side of the argument. The world is such a diverse place, full of different ideas and opinions. That's what makes meeting new people interesting!
Actually, Spirit was one of the themes for the original event. It's what the color purple symbolizes in the rainbow of the Pride flag. But it sounds fitting for this character now that I think about it, even though she doesn't really have a story. Her design was just a combination of some of my favorite to draw things/elements.

So true!! Patience and honesty is the key to all healthy relationships. Of course, not everyone will agree 100% with each other, but it'd be awesome if conflicts could be resolved peacefully and without people losing their lives about them.

Yes, patience, honestly, and also perhaps understanding/empathy? As we are all so different and experience things differently so it can be super helpful too.
So true! When you say it like that it really does feel simple. But I suppose overall us humans like to make things so complicated, so conflict arises
Flowy hair definitely makes me think of those too, especially wind spirits, I'm always imagining long hair blowing in the wind xD
