We used to have a root of a pale one, like yours here. The outer petals were a delicate pink and the centre like cream. The blooms were about 80cms high. They always fell in the wind.
When we moved the root it didn't give as many flowers.
In England I had only ever seen dark red peonies as a young woman. I hardly ever see any here. They are all pink.
Do you grow hollyhocks? I did a couple of years ago and took macro photos of them. Last year the plants caught an illness so we cut them down.

I do have a few hollyhocks, dark red and yellow. But they don't seem to like it here very much. I think it also depends on what kind of soil you have.

I bought some in pots and they grew well for a year. Then last year the leaves developed nasty lumpy yellow spots.
Well our soil is very sandy. We never managed to buy any good soil when we made a terrace in front of the French windows.
