I (Jacob light) went about my normal day. As I'm walking through the park on my way home I freak out when all of a sudden there was a big vortex like triangle glowing green in the park. I ran home which is luckily only 2 block away from the park. I sit at my desk to start my homework and found that there was a necklace with a chain of silver and a polished crystal triangle at the end made of a green material that seems kind of like green aventurine but I'm not sure.
I was always a curious teen so I put it on. Suddenly there was that same triangle which seemed to glow like a million suns yet not blind me. I now find myself in a humongous library. There are bookshelves that went higher than my eyes could see. You could see desks within the areas with books down into the area where you couldn't see the shelves anymore. There were stone tablets and ancient dolls and books. I felt at home. Im such a nerd. But so excited that I now have this magic necklace.
There were multiple people of all ages with things like artifacts books and rolls of parchment but I was to scared to talk to any of them. I feel so excited that you have the ability to go to this magical place. I start walking down one row of book shelves with some interesting books. One labeled The Book of all Things Mandrake and another titled How to Flee a Grand Elves Cry. This place seems interesting and I'm very calm but I wonder how without 2 or 3 ladders in every shelf you you get to the high books. Then suddenly I started to levitate but then fell down. I was so surprised but kept going.
I walked a bit further and soon walked to the end. There was an old man there. I said "hello" instead of what are you doing in order to be polite.
He said "ahh a newcomer". Then as if reading my mind told me about a weird 2 second grow potion he was making for the greenhouses. I was so excited that there were greenhouses,xx but thought that that was the only place to study mandrake so it would be obvious.
Oh, "by the way" the old man started speaking. "Your desk will be in shelf 36786 in section 794 also know as the teen flamingo shelf". "What"... I started to ask but once again as if reading my mind he responded. "I don't know why it's called the flamingo shelf it's just a name that has nothing to do with that section other than the teen part". I wanted to ask him what i was going to be researching and a what I would be getting paid but he replied before I could ask. "This isn't a job this is personal and collaborative research and magic study that the crystal ball recruited you to be a part of and also if you think of the shelf number or nickname and touch your amulet it will take you there".
"Ok, thanks" I said. So i touched the necklace and after thing about flamingos in a flash of green I was there there was an huge empty desk with empty shelf space around it and a black plastic name tag with an aluminum name that was mine. I couldn't believe I got this desk next to 4 other desks slightly spread out. It had to be other teens that sat there because of what that man said.
Soon a boy came up saying "hello newbie what are you doing. are you having fun here". He sat down and started organizing his desk.
I said "I don't know but this place is awesome". I started to look at the books across from my shelf.
"I know right" he replied. Then he introduced himself as Josh and I introduced myself as Jacob. Then Josh said “well i wasn't expecting you so soon i was going to get you some basic supplies as a gift because they expect you to go get it you self but I pretty much only need to get some basic books to get you used to the odd material here. Including magic”.
"Oh thanks" i responded. So he started setting down ink, good quality pens, parchment, a few beeswax candles, and most other basic essentials to researching here as he called them. He gave me 6 kinds of incense he recommended. About 30 books. He even gave me a nice variety of herb samples. Plus he also gave me 50 nice sized rolls of parchment. Although this was fine with my because of my desk, which was about 4 and a half meters across and gave me room for over 20000 books in my empty shelf area i'm sure.
Josh explained to me "the magic of how this library has many copies of each book spread throughout and some would just magically appear when they were needed in a certain place of the library". He said to "start finding some books as he went to finish getting me the basic supplies". He came back with a large plant and a magic deck of cards. He also came back with a lot of tools most of which I couldn't recognise. Plus he came back with a number of crystals including one that was 3 and half feet tall and mostly amethyst inside. Next mentioned I could take any book and most artifacts I wanted and keep it in my personal shelf for as long as I wanted.
He told me I should start exploring and to ask him (on my right) or the person on my left if I had any questions. There wasn't anyone on the left yet though. So i started exploring finding a book about the elements and how to control them called Elements and Their Hearts and many other subjects including non magical subjects. By the end of the day I had chosen about 250 books and got them organized across my shelves thanks to the power of my amulet which i quickly learned to use. I also now have 4 large stone tablets, 7 ancient figurines, and about 17 small stone tablets. Somehow the amulet gave me the power to read any language like the ones on the stone tablets.
I decided to go home and the amulet easily flashed me there in the same green light as before. I found only an hour had gone past when it seemed like i was there for up to 5 hours. So I went to bed so excited for to go back after school tomorrow.
