Not weird For blur and bokeh in background you have to work with aperture and depth of field. It's easier on DSLR, but not impossible with compact.

Set your aperture to lowest number and focus on close small objects with distant background.

You've got Canon PowerShot SX130 IS. I have same, I took this photo with it: [link] , but I've never managed how to get really nice bokeh with round circles.

Try to read some tutorials, internet is full of them. It'll be easier than trying to understand my poor english
