(original)Shades of violetReal bored today, so I redrew this thing near the back of my gallery for funsies. And because new years is coming in a couple of days. I think the biggest change here is Rarity's posterior, literally. And actually cropping the photo the whole way. Actually, now that I look at it, I still didn't do that in the new version...
It is super yellow because the new lightbulbs are and I overdid contrast because I forgot this was a color drawing.
Also, I think I probably shouldn't have been on dA in the first place at the time it was uploaded. Damn, COPPA needs to do its job...Β

It was at thirteen that I found that I enjoyed painting. Maybe I should revisit some of those old paintings...

That's a good idea, you could see how much has changed. I personally love your works and I can't believe I haven't seen them yet before you commented. You're amazing with acrylics and I feel you should have more recognition for your art...

I think you can still use ponies in a portfolio, provided that it isn't characters from the show. I dunno, I'm just assuming. And yeah I do have one, but it's private, it is only for people who know me in real life.

Wow, earlier judgeing by your art I'd say you were in your late teens (the youngest at that) but to know you're 13...WOW, your shows a great deal inner sensitivity.
The style is getting more refined, the technique is greatly improving and the overall feeling gets heavier and darker, which for me is a very good thing :3

yeah, your art is amazing. several months ago i placed you up on a pedestal as one of my idols, an artist I looked up to and took inspiration from. today I learned that you are only 13. I would have thought that that would be a downer for me, being 17, to have someone several years younger than me be one of my idols; interestingly enough it hasn't changed my mood, but rather improved my opinion of you. it's amazing to see how talented such a young artist can be, and how far dedication to art can go. this is awesome

Whoa whoa, hold on... internet time is the opposite of a waste of time. Your style uniquely reflects something that can really be described as disturbing beauty, which is really interesting when given your age is quite surprising. You're very mature for your age which I think should be an indicator that you're discovering the inner workings of emotion that is rarely explored, even from someone entering their teen years.Β Even at 21 well into college, I still have trouble deciphering what I'm looking at in your drawings and am so drawn in by how mysterious and dark they tend to be.Β Back to the internet thing, your generation has the world at their fingertips which allows young folk to explore further into society than any other group that came before. I didn't get a computer till I was well into high school (I was 17 at the time, early 2010), which is sad really in this era.Β Keep up your craft and you find that as the years go by, the life on an artist can be extremely stressful, but as the same time it becomes incredibly exciting with the amount of freedom and individuality you have at your disposal. Don't underestimate how much time you have on your hands.

I suppose you're right. Β I need to remind myself how privileged I am to have free access to the internet, or I'd be a completely different person. I'd never learn how disgusting (or beautiful) the world is. I'd be pretty sheltered otherwise. And I'd also probably would never be an artist either - there were always incredible artists that I admire and learned from. And if I had never been on the internet my whole life until my age, I'd likely be going through my weeaboo phase or something. Β Though, life of an artist? I don't really know if I'll have a life revolving around art, really. It is highly unlikely I'd ever be able to make a living drawing, considering the incredibly wide and easily accessible availability of related careers there are (cough). But of course I'd never stop drawing, it'll always be a hobby of mine. Well, I hope so. It's the only thing I'm decent at so far.
But anyway, thank you for this comment ^_^ Made me think, and it'll stick with me for a while. And for the incredibly flattering and kind words, thank you as well. I'm glad I could provide some useful insight. Your words really bring out your intelligence and that is to be cherished. It's true there are other things besides art to pursue in life, it's just that having a creative mind can be daunting regardless of career. Keep up the fantastic work, and thank you, I didn't think you'd notice my stuff. Perhaps what's most interesting is I think your style is far superior to mine and most other (pony) artists who are so much alike that they get lost in the crowd. Let's just say we have a lot to learn from each other, no matter the age.
