Description I've been kicking around some new ideas lately and here's a line up of some new characters. I'm a fantasy dork I must admit, and after working on a "real-life" kinda story for two years now I'm ready for some change. I'm formulating bits of story around these gals, but nothing solid yet. They're a band of female mercenaries. The first being the leader. She's a real androgin, generally likes to keep her gender secret, the second is the spunky little magician, the third is an elf, and the forth is a upper class girl who learned her sword work at some fancy school. I have'nt committed myself to this idea yet or anything, but they're a fun bunch to draw.

nice details and such with the clothing... I would like to see their features pushed more... also, if that last one is from a rich background, why does she have the most bland clothes... think about the costumes projecting the personalities of the characters more... with the first one, add more armor, chain mail, and more masculan garb... the magician works for me... pretty playful... maybe add in some floral designs to push that... keep the sleeves tighter on the archer... archer's don't wear loose clothes and apparel, as they don't want it to get caught when they shoot. Also, maybe just have one set of bangs down on the opposite side she shoots from, once again so it wouldn't distract her or get in her way, and also so that it would break some of the symmetry of the design...

As always, your clothing is what makes your work sing... I envy your skill in that.

Thanks so much for the help Mikey, you always have great comments. I want to add one more girl since Josh said I needed a thief, and then do a color line up, I'll apply those suggestions for sure.

Your human characters are always so awesome. I like the one with the whacking stick. The third one is definetely a David Bowie elf. All elfs have some prerequisite to look like David Bowie, fyi. This one passes.

lol, thats awsome, I love David Bowie. Since I've been home from school I snatch my sisters CDs all time, I should just make my own copys already.

VERy cool Holly! Teh first thing i thought when i saw them is that the one of teh left doesn't look like a woman...then i read the description and i felt stupid..anyways with her i think you coudl get away with her bandaging her breasts really tight so that you could not tell that she was a woman, i read it in a great fantasy novel where a girl did that to fit in with the boy knights..anwways...since i too am a big fantasy dork you left out 1 very important memeber, the rougue/thief...every mercenary band has gotta have one!! But eyah you don't have to do that, just spouting off ideas...fantasy stories are awesome, and i too one day woudl love to throw some of my ideas out there...

Thats funny what you said about the bandages, cause if you look closely,(its hard to see) she does have her chest bound. We fantasy readers think alike. You are right about the thief though, I forgot that. Well five's not a bad number, I'll just have to thow her in there. Just you watch Josh, you keep working on cut-outs and sooner or later your inner fantasy nerd will just be dying to come out. Thats what happened to me with Primary Blues. I liked the story and it was fun, but two years later I'm just dying to draw dragons and and wizards and elves....

haha cool cool! I actually did notice the bandage after you said that, and i still think its a great idea! Yeah i'm trying to crank out at least 1 Cut Outs a week, but whats great about it is with their imaginations i could easily throw in a page or 2 of them playin a RPG and actually acting it or what not..But no matter what we do, teh fantasy nerd will always want to come out and scream for some attention!
