Description The background, I have to admit, is digital. The hard part, however, is watercolour. Which justifies the category in my opinion. (The background is really filter upon filter upon filter.)

Anyhow, this is probably the quickest piece of schoolwork I've done yet. It's m'dragon! Chasing fish!

....I honestly can't think of much of a description for this. I'll blame the fact that I spent nearly 9 hours (including some breaks) yesterday trying to write. Don't ask how many pages I got done. The answer will only depress you.

Back to work. Or not. More work will happen tonight, though.

----------------
EDIT (16.3.2007): I changed the name for my dragon. My biology professor pointed out that there are rules to name something after a person, so being lame, I changed the name to Draconis cristatus. ("Cristatus" means "crested.") Yep. Observe my lack of imagination. The common name is still going to be "Folls dragon." Both for "Follansbee" and for "Fool." ^.-.^

Beautifully done though. I love it.

A little lunch prowl........I'm loving the way you make us feel as if we are looking up toward the sun...out of the sea.........nicely thought out...
even if it is digital..it still looks good.....
The details of the dragon shadow
and the fish scurrying away as fast as they can swim is very obvious.....

This is the part where I don't say how completely not though-out this actually was... Except I did have the idea based on the countless underwater-looking-up images of sharks that I have.
But it was still kind of a spur of the moment thing.

Thanks. ^.-.^

i like the subtle lighting you put on it's claws to give it depth. often times people just make siloeuts all black and flat
nice work

Luthrai In reply to subearanhuman [2007-03-10 05:35:53 +0000 UTC]

I love how the subtle lighting is really just the ink wash being it's messy self. ...crap. Did I just say that out loud?
And you're right, people do tend to make silhouettes all black and flat, don't they? I was very much not thinking at all when I did this. It was more like, "I'm gonna try to use watercolours! And- And- Crap! I don't know how to use watercolours! ....I'll cover it up by using ink!" *maniacal laughter*
And...yep.

Thanks!

Ah...I really love this kind of art! An underwater scenery...and a dragon hunting for food. I guess this kind of dragonsaurs have become your trademark, and only yours. When I see this wow, its so 'Luthrai' ^^. Nice one that needs to be fav'ed. :< BRAVOO >

Why, thankee kindly.
Heehee, "dragonsaurs." Yeah, they kinda are, aren't they?
...
That's just going to make me chuckle for a while, as it's not something I ever thought to call them. ^.-.^

Haha, well thats the first name come up to me when I first see your dragons. The anatomy of your dragons are definitely not reptile's but a dinosaurs's. I forgot the name of that underwater dinosaur but this work of yours reminds me to that thing. I like it.

Thanks- that means a lot.
I spent a good while staring at this going, "graaaaah - why did I think I could do water in photoshop??"
Granted, it still doesn't really look a whole lot like water, but it's close enough to get the idea across.
And I will totally settle for that.

Oh nice...espescially since in my othe rinternet forum we have contest. The themes "underwater". So this come right in time. It Storm chasing the little fish right?

Anyway, relaly greta. (reminds me how hard to do the stupid water surface with waves was in photoshop XD)

Keep it up!

Luthrai In reply to Ferain [2007-02-23 03:34:56 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!! ^.-.^

It's actually a dragon of mine for my undergrad-thesis-thing (so not a Storm exactly, no, though it runs along the same ideas sorta). I've actually been calling them "Folls dragons." For 3 reasons.
1- "Folls" from "Follansbee" (my name).
2- "Folls" typo of "Fools" (which is what I feel like sometimes. ^ ^)
3- I have an utter lack of imagination sometimes. This does not mix well with desperation.

Yep.

Or at least the pursuit of fish.

It's very pretty.

But fish are happiness!

...Okay, they're not. Except if you're an 'ikkle starving draggie! Then they are! ^.-.^

Thankee kindly.

Karnanyd [2007-02-23 01:51:25 +0000 UTC]

*hums the theme from Jaws*

Somehow those fish look totally oblivious, although I'm sure they are really scurrying as fast as their little fins can scurry.

I really like the sillouette-from-below-type-ness of this. And the color is really nice (I like blue). I like the border too. It sorta looks like one of those motivational posters that you find in offices everywhere, which makes me think that you should do a version with a silly joke un-inspirational type thing, like they do at that Demotivations website. Or even a serious motivational thingy. Then you should make it a print. And if I had money, I would buy one. But I don't, so hopefully other people do and would buy some.

Luthrai In reply to Karnanyd [2007-02-23 03:23:06 +0000 UTC]

I like blue, too.
Oh, Demotivators, how I do love thee. I even have one on my wall. Compliments of my mother.
I think it would have to be a silly joke un-inspirational little thing, because any serious motivational thing I could come up with would be beyond cheese. I mean, so cheesey it would exceed your monthly needs of dairy products.

And I understand. I don't have money, either.

If only I could come up with something witty to suggest for a saying. Unfortunately, I am rather witless this evening.
