Equestria Girls ages are not accurate at all. Rarity and Cheerilee are supposed to be around the same age based on Cutie Mark Chronicles, but in the movie ones a teacher and ones a student.

Course, it wasn't clear HOW old BM was in the movie. For all we know he just visited his siblings or maybe helps out around the school; Granny Smith's the lunchlady after all. He never has a backpack or anything.

In the beginning when Twilight enters the school, people exit the classrooms, then enter other ones and you see Cheerilee, and she is a teacher there. I have only seen about 20 minutes of it, so I don't know if you see her more.
