um... well, i made this poster for a boyfriend of mine for his birthday, because his favourite band was the mars volta --and when we saw them together (twice!), the posters they sold at the shows sucked my left one. it's got indents from the note i wrote to him on the back, because it is the original. yea, obviously since i still have it, he never got it-- but...

it took 5 separate silk screens to make this one and 5 different colours of ink (black, light orange, red, magenta, and blue-violet) and yellow posterboard. the lyrics to "take the veil cerpin taxt" were also supposed to be screen onto it, and are on every one after this one, but the first screen i made for it got washed through. i had a set of twenty and i have six left, including this original, and the altered original (which is at a friend's house, so no picture of it, sorry), but i still have the screens to make more. the altered version (everyone except this one), also has a lemur in the upper-left hand corner. i was trying to put the art from the cd cover (the one with the head in water and the intestine-like things coming out of it), onto that side, but it didn't work out, so i went lazy and just drew one of the lemurs on instead (black ink). the altered version takes 7 screens, 5 and 6 colours (depending on the colour of the lyrics). um... all printed by hand! it sucks!!! but oh the love that goes into it.
