Description This is an illustration of a bio-bot concept I was playing around with.
I was playing with the idea of a microscopic serpentine robot that attaches itself to a creature and modifies its function. In this image my robot has attached itself to an otherwise docile species of water bear (tardigrade) and turned it into a ravenous predator of human parasites, in this case a tapeworm (a blend of mammal and shark tapeworm varieties).
This was done in an experimental way for me: the water bear with attached robot was painted digitally. I then printed it out on canvas and painted everything else with acrylics, tightening details with pastels.

Hee, I thought that looked like a water bear.

nice concept, i like how you thought of a robot that modifies an existing being. neat art too, looks like it came from some fantasybook.

Great concept on the nano-tech applications.

Also I that sounds like an interesting technique.

Thanks, and yeah it was an experimental way of working. I've got a lot of experience working traditionally and not so much digitally. Blending them together makes for a cool effect I would not have otherwise been able to produce if I used one or the other.

This was wonderfully done. The only crit I have is that the bear thing is in such sharp focus that you don't really notice the tapeworm. Other than that it's great!

Yeah, actually I have that same problem with it. I need to find some more reference so I can sharpen up the body underneath the water bear's feat. I'm ok with the sharpness of the tapeworm's head, but I feel like the it'd be more believable if I could add some realistic texture.
Just have to wait and see if I get around to updating it

Actually, now having seen it in person, the previous critique doesn't apply so much.
