This tribute was made to support the #OperationSamusReturns movement.

It was long overdue for me to make a tribute to Metroid. So when better than now when Nintendo is bringing back the series? When the hype and interest for the series is at an all-time high.

The Metroid series is a historic landmark in the video game industry. First and foremost by creating a video game with an ingenious level design which encouraged exploration to advance. The unique gameplay lead to the creation of a whole genre known as Metroidvania. Secondly by giving protagonism to a strong female character in Samus Aran. Samus is not only one of the first ladies of video games, but she is also among the most iconic female character of the industry. The series is also known by its atmospheric environments which gives the player a sense of isolation. This is complemented by the series’ uncanny, yet beautiful soundtracks.

In conclusion, much like the Mario series and the Zelda series, the Metroid series is a pioneer in the video game industry.
