Description Narcissa Malfoy flicked her wand at the huge oaken doors as the last guest walked away. The doors swung closed without a whisper from their massive iron hinges, and the heavy bolts slid into their sockets in response to a barely perceptible twitch from Narcissa’s wand. She folded her arms quietly, but remained standing in front of the gateway to her home. It looked so safe, so strong, but she still felt vulnerable. There seemed to be a great cloud of fear pulling tight around Malfoy Manor, sucking away all the air. Her beautiful face remained serene as she stood beside her love, despite the dread twisting within her heart. The Dark Lord had risen again, and her husband, her beloved Lucius, had returned to his side. She knew that her husband’s heart was not truly with the Dark Lord, that he was merely honoring the oath he had sworn years ago, when the world had been a much different place. In a way, it was actually worse than if Lucius had chosen to serve He-Who-Must-Not Be-Named, because at least then she could have accepted that he was doing what he believed to be right— that she could have learned to live with. But this fear that Lucius would be faced with a choice that might reveal that he no longer had faith in the Dark Lord... again her heart seemed to wrench out of place. She feared for her beloved, and for their son, Draco. She knew that should the Dark Lord turn on Lucius, there would be nothing she could do to save either him or their child.
She did not stir as Lucius stepped closer, putting his arm around her. His wife had never been one to display her emotions, choosing to display the face of aristocratic tranquility to the world, but still he knew her well enough to discern the subtle signs of her agitation. He cast one last glance at the doorway, coolly dismissing their guests as being worth no further consideration. He gently rubbed Narcissa’s back with his gloved hand. Then he raised his snake-headed cane and used it to gently turn his wife’s face towards him. A tiny smile broke through the porcelain mask of her reserve, mirrored by the tender smirk on his lips at the repetition of their private game— since the first time they met, it had been a source of amusement to her how he had brandished that beautiful swagger stick of his, and he had caught on quite soon, continuing to milk it for all it was worth. At times he teased her by wondering aloud if she had married him only to be around his cane more often. Now he looked down into her eyes, bluer than moonstones, and darker than usual with the trouble in her heart. “Be not afraid, my love,” he murmured. “I am here, and always will be.”
“I will try to believe you, my darling.” Narcissa could not help but be comforted by the warm physical presence of her husband. She had always drawn courage from his strength.
“But now it is time for my lady to retire.” The torchlight glinted from his eyes, their glacier blue melting only for his dearly-loved wife. He turned and offered Narcissa his arm. “Allow me to escort you, madame.”
Narcissa slipped her fine-boned hand through his arm and chuckled. “I would be honored, my lord. Please, do accompany me.”
Lucius dropped a light, whispering kiss on her forehead as he began to walk in the direction of their bedroom, his lips curving into a smile he could not repress. As long as he could still find his way home to his wife, all dangers were surmountable, and his heart was whole.

My deepest apologies to if I mistook the color of your eyes! In all the pictures I had, they seemed to be blue, but please correct me if I’m wrong.

Wow! Another really lovely manip, and what a sad, beautiful, touching scene you wrote for it. That's very much how I think the dynamic between Lucius, Narcissa and the whole Voldemort situation looks like behind the scenes. You captured it perfectly.

And yes, passport says I have blue eyes...

:whew: Good, I was pretty sure you had the pure Nordic coloring, but I lost my certainty at the last moment...
I'm very glad you enjoyed it, I hoped you would! And I was really inspired by the drawings you've done of Narcissa and Lucius, too.
