Description No… Not the Raccoon!

It was a night with the stars shining brightly in the sky. A lone wolf was walking through his pack lands. He was looking for something to do when he stumbled onto something. It was the remains of a raccoon. The young wolf was just barely a yearling and had never seen a dead raccoon before. He sniffed at it cautiously and pawed at it slowly. It was strange for a corpse. It was still warm but more then half the body was going. It was most likely consumed by another wolf or something else. He sniffed at it one more time and then went on his way. Several feet later, he decided he wanted to go back and look at it one more time. He turned and padded his way back. He got to the point where the body was and it was not there. There was a little blood from where it was lying, but no corpse. Thinking that maybe he had saw something that was not there, he shrugged it off.

As he turned back around he sniffed the air and looked to the sky. Rain was coming in. Not wanting to stop his walk because of a little rain he continued moving forward. Shortly after rain started to drop and lightning flashed. Now this was worth stopping. He took shelter under a large tree. Laying down he rested his sore paws as the lightning flashed. Looking out he saw something in the flash. What was it? He waited for another flash. It was the raccoon copse! Blinking several times he rubbed his head against his paws to straighten his eyes. The next flash came and there was nothing there. Surely he was not losing his mind. It was just the shadows playing tricks on him. He calmed his acing heart and waited out the storm. Once the rain had stopped he decided it might be best if he headed home. Heading the way he had just came he padded swiftly over the newly wetted ground towards his home. As he padded his way home he heard a loud snap of a branch behind him.
Turning around he looked carefully for whatever it was that made the sound. However when he turned there was nothing there. Curling his tail he turned to face forward again as the lightning flashed again. As he faced forward there it was! It was the dead raccoon again right in front of his face. Letting out a loud, scared yelp he sprinted around it and towards his home. Running and tripping over almost everything and anything he came across he finally skidded his way back into his packs clearing. He hopped his way back into his private den and curled into a small ball. He panted feverishly in an attempt to calm himself down. Laying his head on his forepaws he eventually drifted off into a restful sleep.

The next morning he awoke to the sounds of activity in the clearing. Stretching he exited his den and let out a chuff to the others. "What is going on out here?" he asked one of his friends. "It's Seto! He found the most interesting thing in the woods this morning." His friend said to him cheerfully. "Oh really?" The wolf said as he made his way to Seto. "What is this think you found Seto?" He asked softly as he sat down. Set let out an odd griggle and slowly turned around. As he did his eyes widen... it couldn't be... it can't be.... It was! It was the dead raccoon! Letting out a shrill whine he sprinted out into the woods and has yet to ever come back. That is why on clear nights with a full moon as the rain clouds move in you hear someone whispering, "Is it safe? Is it gone?"

Thank you very much I was told to write something Halloween themed and someone mentioned a pup that finds a raccoon pelt and goes around scaring people with it. I took that idea and ran with it
