Description Weary Paws

From the first moment I can remember I have enjoyed being able to move on my own four paws. I have never let anything hold me back. For a while I was with my family and I remember their faces and smiles as they echo through my mind. Then the day came when I heard the voice in the wind. “Come travel, follow me! See what is beyond the world you know!” It said to me softly and sweetly. I bid my family those that I loved good-bye with tears rolling from my eyes as I walked away I headed out to start my new life. I have traveled many places, some very hot, some very cold. There have been many that are deep in the white winter snow. The sky and the earth my constant companions I walked. I went past human dwellings and the humans themselves. They watched me intently, some gave chase, some made me wish that I had never left home, but then that breeze came again. “Come on young wolf, you have much to see! Don’t just lay there and rest come and follow me!” Enchanted by the voice yet again I continued on.

As my travels continued I met wolves from all ways of life. Some that were kind and welcoming, others cold and isolating. Yet no matter where I went I saw that faces of my kin, in every soft look and every tooth-filled grin. I have family that I probably don’t know now, but they hear stories of me. I am the wandering wolf, I bet that’s what they call me. They tell the elders tell the pups things they have seen, and tell them of stories where I might have been. I wonder each day and sometimes at night I keep following that voice with all of my might. My coat was once black as the night is lighter now as I keep pushing myself towards that soft and sweet sound. However tonight when I finally closed my eyes, I saw the person in a human guise. With a soft voice she spoke and petted me gently, then with a pulse of light I saw who she was. A wolf of pure light she smiled and murred to me just like my mother when I was a cub. I asked who she is and even what she was. “My dear baby, I am your mother the moon. I sent you on that journey, but it’s over soon. You’ve seen all there is all the beauty around, you’ve went from pack to pack and survived human towns. You’re life and your love is all that I asked, please follow me it’s time to meet your pack.”

With energy renewed I felt stronger then ever, I walked along side her as fast as I could then I saw my pack I understood. Mother! Father! My siblings and family were there waiting for me. She smiled and nodded as she picked up her speed. Other wolves that I had met over my timely travels they all were they. I looked around, it was dark the heart of night. Seeing them though made my heart light. I ran and ran and finally was greeted by my parents with love. I murred and giggled because of all that I saw. With a lick of the muzzle I turned to mother moon, she smile and faded from my sight like the night from the day. “My dear baby welcome home, rest your weary paws, because here you stay.”

I loved the story! It's beautiful and clearly written from the heart.

I too once had a coat as dark as the night, but the years have past, and it has turned to silver. I urge the young wolf to wander no more. To no longer travel alone. One day you too will discover that time has passed, and you are no longer a pup. You will wonder about the paths in the night you did not explore. I have searched this land for you....night after night. You have heard my howl in the darkness, accross these many miles. Calling you to come. To come to me. I have not given up. Night after night I have called to you. The heavens have guided me and lead me to you. Please don't run away from me into the darkness. Trust in me. I will show you my home. A land of snow and ice. When you are hungry, I will hunt for you. When you are tired, I will lay beside you, my silver coat keeping you warm. We have both run from our pack......searching. The search is over my young pup. Let us leave paw prints in the snow that shows that we chose to travel this land side by side. Together, this old wolf and the young one, will no longer wander alone. For they have both found what they had been always been searching for....home. They will be weary no more. ~R~
