Description Looking back from the distance (and the safety of the dry warmth of my living room) this doesn't look as bad as it was.

My skin had not seen a dry thread of clothing for days. I was so frakking sick of the rain. AND the mist. Because it made for ratty lighting of what should have been spectacular surroundings.

As I said, it doesn't look so bad now. Silver lining?

Kumano Kodo Trail, Wakayama Peninsula, Japan, September 2015. Picture has not been tampered with, as almost always.

Despite the misty surroundings, I think they added a special aspect of your trip there. Like, the lighting isn't anything bright, but nothing's murky or terribly obscured. In fact, with lighting like this you actually probably had things enhanced in a way that sunlight would not have. Take the moss and the brilliant green that it has against the earthy colors. A somewhat gentle reminder that the forest is more alive than one may think.

I understand what you're suggesting and it is true that rainy forest is especially lush and vibrant. Smells good, too.

Still, even pointing out the redeeming features of this shot still doesn't save it. I prefer mist in combination with sun, at least right now while I'm still bitter. Give me half a year to get over this particular hike and we can probably talk again about rainy forest ^__^.
