I absolutely love this shot. The one in front has a teary-eyed expression longing for the beautiful past, there's one leaning forward to get a better view of the outside world, one slumped over given in to catatonia, and the gal in denial with the necklace on.
Feel/mood could not be better...it is perfect!
Technical stuff now:
Actually, after poring over the piece for 10 minutes now, I can't really find many flaws. I'd personally like more depth-o-field, but the focal fade works here.
I'd like to see it in b&w or desaturated a bit to push that feeling of faded glory a little further, but I'm being picky.
Run back to that shop the second it opens in the morning, set the cam on the tripod and shoot all day to catch the shifting light. Spend hours sitting with them, make up stories about them, get to know them like family...then shoot them group and as singles in the late afternoon light.
I hope you'll tell me where these are someday...I'd love to set them in scenes, hugging, playing cards, smoking, watching an old broken TV.
You could make hundreds of photos in this Mannekinship series.
Excellent work. You could be the best young photographer I've seen in a long long time.
I know a school (if you're still in school) where you could do what you want and photo scholarships are available for next year. Lemme know and keep shooting!

This is neat, like super, super neat.
I love how the one your eyes automatically turn to (the lady in front of the one in the necklace) looks like she's extremely interested in what's past her. Quite nice.

I love the one netx to the blue man, she seems so eager and curious to see the passerby, and yet theres such a sadness to her.
That one with the necklace is really creepy, she looks like she's plotting something...
The one closest to the lens with the red lipstick looks incredibly blank and lonely. I like how she was the prettiest of them all, and yet it looks like she's the most cracked and dismal now. She looks like she's sighing heavily, deep in thought.
Lydia, only you could give mannequins life and personality.
